The Department of Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a Department Administrator, Clinical position. The incumbent performs administrative work in conjunction with other department administrators to provide leadership to a specific functional area in the organization.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Develops policies and procedures for department operations and ensures compliance.

Develops and maintains systems for managing and reporting the department\xe2\x80\x99s activities.

Maintains close liaison and positive working relationships with faculty, staff, and all other employees interfacing within the department.

Provides leadership in developing business strategies and tactics to support the goals of the department and overall Health System strategic plans for market growth and development.

Guides managers in developing skills and implementing performance management practices.

Supports professional development of the workforce.

Monitors staff and physician satisfaction.

Provides administrative oversight to the division\xe2\x80\x99s practices, supporting the employment of the quality improvement process in improving operations.

Directs the planning and strategic formation of clinical program goals.

Analyzes and reviews financial and productivity reports.

Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.

Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS .

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in relevant field.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM

Department Specific Functions

Defines goals and objectives for various clinical divisions and satellite offices regarding growth, fiscal plan, patient care revenue and collections, staffing support requirements and policies Develops and implements a comprehensive plan to improve patient access to physician and hospital services. Optimizes the patient flow assuring exceptional customer service and patient satisfaction Establishes policies to appropriately and effectively support high quality, highly satisfied and cost-effective patient care in accordance to University policies. Responsible for the overall efficient utilization of all clinical staff and ancillary service areas Responsible for tracking and resolving all patient/physician/staff complaints in accordance to UMMG practice standards and university policies Works with all UHeath System clinical sites to assure coordination of services, program development and optimal integration of services and inter-working relationships Initiates, manages and monitors appropriate interventions to ensure compliance with JACHO and licensure requirements. Develops excellent relationships with external constituencies, including working with advancement to successfully develop major donors Responsible for all facility improvement and expansion projects; working with university facilities department, architects, and contractors Works collaboratively with Vice Chair, faculty, house staff, hospital, and outpatient administrators to support the provision of accessible, patient friendly, cost effective, high quality patient care. Oversees all related ambulatory clinic access projects Multi-D, Telehealth, Sylvester Pool projects. Creates reports aiming to track and manage all ambulatory related compliance with in-baskets, open encounters, template design, and DEP clean-up. Serves as department liaison for all recredentialing/payor related issues. Create reports and works with faculty members on resolving matters relating to Uhealth provider metrics, including resolution of suspensions, missing documentation and in baskets messages for all satellites. Works in Collaboration with Executive team with resolving matters relating to ambulatory access, patient satisfaction, credentialing, compliance, and overall clinical ambulatory performance for the department of surgery.

Marketing, communications, medial relations

Collaborates with marketing/PR team in developing provider and site-specific marketing/communications activities. Works with faculty on all matters relating to social media. Ensure all provider profiles have a Doximity profile. Works with Division Chiefs on US New and World Reports (attends meetings and works with marketing on addressing matters aiming to improve ranking). Works with Communications team in the creation of blogs, videos, flyers, grids and interviews.

Department Specific Qualifications

Education:

Bachellor\xe2\x80\x99s degree and or Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree preferred.

Experience:

3-5 years of effective leadership experience in a healthcare environment in a large and complex organizations
