Summary of Job Duties: \xe2\x80\xa2 Supervises department chairs and other administrative and management personnel in the Evans-Allen Research, Cooperative Extension and International Programs;

  • Functions as designated signatory on Evans-Allen and Cooperative Extension formula funds, and the 1890 Facilities Program funds;
  • Maintains budget management authority and is the Dean/Director designated budget officer for administrative budgets within the School;
  • Implement s program accountability and fiscal oversight procedures that result in adherence to university, state and federal expenditure policies and procedures;
  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures within the SAFI-IS that ensures compliance with campus, university, state, and federal administrative guidelines; ,
  • Functions as a member of the UAPB Dean \'s Council, the Association of 1890 Research Directors and the Association of 1890 Extension Administrators;
  • Maintains positive working relationships with appropriate campus and university administrators, state, and federal agencies and various stakeholder groups;
  • Coordinates the development of and implementation of the school\' s vision and goals;
  • Provides oversight for the unit\' s fiscal, human, and physical resources;
  • Coordinates the professional development of unit administrators, faculty, staff, and students;
  • Implements new and emerging technologies impacting distance education, agriculture, human sciences, fisheries, and extension programs;
  • Possesses a personal and professional commitment to diversity;
  • Provides leadership for development campaigns and a commitment to active participation of university advancement efforts.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Qualifications:
  • Possess an earned doctorate from an accredited institution;
  • Have at least one graduate degree in an Agriculture, Fisheries or Human Sciences area, and/or at least 7 years of experience in working in the Agriculture Extension Profession.
  • Proven leadership experience in a public higher education institution with demonstrated administrative success;
  • A distinguished record in teaching, research, and service that merits appointment as a tenured professor;
  • Experience with instructing, advising and/or employing both undergraduate and graduate students;
  • Strong fiscal management skills and experience allocating and re-allocating limited resources to fulfill the priorities of the strategic plan;
  • Commitment to diversity at all levels;
  • Commitment to a culture of shared governance;
  • Experience with innovative practices and professional development opportunities that will enable faculty and staff to become more effective educators;
  • A commitment to working effectively with administrators, staff, faculty, and other stakeholders in communicating the mission of the University.
  • An understanding and appreciation of the University\'s history and mission-and can move the institution forward through expanding academic program offerings and fostering a culture of academic excellence consistent with the goals of the university\'s strategic plan.
