POSITION SUMMARY: The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is seeking positive role models who are caring, outgoing, creative, love to have fun, enjoy being outside, and want to make a positive impact in the lives of youth in our day camp programs.

Under the guidance of the branch Youth and Family Program Director, the primary responsibility of the Day Camp Site Supervisor is to provide a safe environment were staff and campers can grow and thrive. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: \xe2\x80\xa2 Directly impact the lives of hundreds of campers and staff members each day. \xe2\x80\xa2 Inspire youth development staff through programs and actions. \xe2\x80\xa2 With the support of branch leadership, responsible for the day to day happenings within the camp.

• Be the face and voice of the day camp within the camp and the community. \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide support to youth development counselors through guidance, encouragement, recognition and fun. \xe2\x80\xa2 Help cultivate friendships between staff and campers and establish a sense of belonging for all involved with camp. \xe2\x80\xa2 Serve as a role model for all youth and staff participating in the day camp program by displaying exemplary behavior at all times.
• Plan, assist, and implement program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values for campers. \xe2\x80\xa2 Be willing to dress up, save the world, sing a song and lose the game when needed. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ensure a safe and nurturing environment; attending to the needs of campers at all times. \xe2\x80\xa2 Serve as a role model for all youth participating in the day camp program by displaying exemplary behavior at all times and modeling healthy eating and physical activity.
• Be welcoming to all campers, parents and other staff. \xe2\x80\xa2 Consciously create a climate in camp to foster the goals and objectives of the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit. \xe2\x80\xa2 Supervise a group of 6 \xe2\x80\x93 12 children, as needed. \xe2\x80\xa2 Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
• Assume equal responsibility of general housekeeping tasks. \xe2\x80\xa2 Following YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical situations and behavior management, child abuse prevention and emergencies. \xe2\x80\xa2 Must be at least 21 year of age. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology. QUALIFICATIONS: \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience working with youth preferred. \xe2\x80\xa2 High school diploma or equivalent required. \xe2\x80\xa2 Meets the requirements set forth by the state-licensing agency.

Documentation of DHS clearance prior to starting work, TB skin test within 30 days, and CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Safe certifications are required within 60 days. \xe2\x80\xa2 Complete Blood Borne Pathogens training, Redwoods, and concussion trainings as required. • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to plan, lead and participate in all physical activities \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to sit and stand from a seated position on the floor when interacting with children. \xe2\x80\xa2 Capability to be outside participating for the majority of the day.
