Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a Data System Architect in Washington, DC.

This position will support the Department of Energy Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED). OCED is a multi-technology office responsible for overseeing more than $20B of investment in large scale demonstrations in emerging technologies such as clean hydrogen, carbon capture, advanced nuclear reactors, grid-scale energy storage, industrial emissions reductions as well as demonstrations in rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged regions. We are looking for individuals with a range of skills and interest in large-scale clean energy demonstration projects, particularly in renewable systems, carbon capture and removal, hydrogen, and nuclear energy technologies.

Our client requires integrated data systems to enable the efficient collection, storage, tracking, retrieval, analysis and visualization of data associated with its programs/projects.

To facilitate technical data collection, a comprehensive analysis of our client\xe2\x80\x99s business requirements, the system functionalities necessary to meet those requirements, and the combination of software products capable of delivering those functionalities is necessary to make informed recommendations to client\xe2\x80\x99s management regarding the procurement and implementation of system software.

Staff may work remotely but will need to be in the DC area for frequent in-office interaction. It\'s estimated that this work will be full-time for about 6 months.

Responsibilities:

• Determine key system stakeholders and strategy for eliciting stakeholder support.
• Coordinate inputs regarding data management needs from key system stakeholders/subject matter experts.
• Define the scale and architecture of a system that is necessary to meet stakeholder needs.
• Develop a functional requirements document that outlines and prioritizes the specific functions required in the system as well as overarching system management requirements (e.g. security).
• The functional requirements should address all aspects of the collection, storage, tracking, retrieval, analysis and visualization of client data.
• Develop a backend engineering plan that satisfies a modern end-to-end data workflow.
• Research software options that provide the requisite mix of functionalities outlined in the requirements document(s).
• Determine realistic budget and timeline for software implementation given the required functionalities and software choices available.
• Communicate options to client management in a way that allows for informed decision-making.

Requirements

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Information Management, Information Technology, or related degrees.
• Experience working with Government clients.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in an System Architecture role.
• Experience working with the Department of Energy desired.
• Candidates must be deeply familiar with data systems, data management, cyber security, databasing, data analytics, and/or data control.
• Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
