Position Summary

Incumbent of this position is required to perform highly complex clerical duties in accordance with established rules, policies and procedures of the Road Test Department. Incumbent must have excellent multi-tasking and customer service skills while performing job duties with both RMV employees and the public. Incumbent must have general knowledge of standard operating procedures as it pertains to the position of Road Test Examiner. Incumbent is required to process intake for scheduled road test exams on multiple rosters verifying the information required at the time of an applicant\xe2\x80\x99s exam as well as process administrative tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent of this position is responsible for performing the following duties:

  • Answer inquiries relative to laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing agency services.
  • Answers telephone calls received at the Service Center and field appropriately.
  • Ensure that customer service is provided in a professional, efficient, and courteous manner to both RMV Staff and the public.
  • Perform other general office duties upon request.
  • Follow security procedures according to Registry policy and the Code of Conduct.
  • Confirm applicant\xe2\x80\x99s scheduled exam and verify the validity of the required documentation.
  • Examine the accuracy and presence of the required information on RMV Road Test forms.
  • Processes data on ALARS through a pc environment.
  • Works with the regional supervisor and Road Test Manager to document and report any system or processing issues.
  • Ability to explain rules, regulations, policies, procedures and agency functions accurately and intelligently.
  • Develop a thorough knowledge and use of the ATLAS screens and their functions.
  • Field walk-in inquiries as it pertains to the Road Test Program and if needed, schedule appointments.
  • Ensure that road test rosters and score sheets are properly stored and scanned at the close of day.
These positions will be located at several Road-Testing Sites as outlined: Braintree, Taunton, Brockton, Chicopee, Lawrence, Leominster, Worcester, Milton, Lynn.

Pre-Hire Process

Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants must agree to and successfully satisfy:
  • A comprehensive name-based and fingerprint-based background check of his/her state and federal criminal history records information from all U.S. states, the District of Columbia and certain U.S. Territories and from some foreign nations.
  • An employment reference check, and
  • A satisfactory review of his/her driving records to be eligible for this position.
Qualifications

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time or equivalent part-time, experience in a position, the major duties of which included, cash handling and working directly with clients or customers; or experience providing information to clients, customers or the public on services, procedures and requirements, which included entering or retrieving data using computer systems.

Applicants must agree to and successfully pass a background check of criminal justice information and satisfactory review of driving record to be eligible for this position.

Substitutions:

A Bachelor\'s degree may be substituted for the required experience.

Special Requirements:

Please note that this position may require the ability to travel to various MassDOT facilities across the Commonwealth.
