About the Position:

University Advancement serves Cal State Fullerton by building and strengthening relationships with the communities we serve to encourage advocacy, investment and support of the University, its mission, goals and programs in support of student and alumni success. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the CSUF Philanthropic Foundation Controller (Administrator II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The CSUF Philanthropic Foundation Controller is responsible for all financial and accounting aspects of the Cal State Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation. Directs efforts to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Foundation processes, ensures adherence to Foundation policies and procedures, enhances and ensures compliance of the Foundation\'s system of internal controls, and incorporates nonprofit best practices into the Foundation\'s operations. Develops and reports information that is important and helpful to all Foundation constituents. Maintains general ledger and accounting system. Oversees the establishment and maintenance of funds held for California State University Fullerton and ensures the use of such funds is in compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and donor intent, including currently expendable funds as well as endowment funds. Provides complete and accurate financial information regarding these funds. Responsible for the timely issuance of GAAP financial reporting statements including statements of financial position, statements of activities, and cash flows. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, finance or business administration. A minimum of five years of accounting experience, with two years of experience working with nonprofit accounts preferred. Supervisory/management experience. Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures, and financial statements. Demonstrated experience in effectively organizing workload, setting priorities and meeting deadlines. Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision to ensure accurate, complete and timely accomplishment of assignments, exercise good judgment to alert supervisor to potential issues before they arise. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical, numerical, reasoning abilities. Strong skills in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the Foundation, university personnel, constituents, and the public. Must be results-oriented, quality-driven and team oriented. Ability to work effectively in a large, complex and dynamic organization balancing competing priorities.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

License/Certifications

Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Special Working Conditions

Must be able to work annual commencement ceremonies.
