The Crisis Hotline is the heart of Survivor Empowerment Center. This is the opportunity to be a lifeline for our survivors.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Handles in-coming calls to Survivor Empowerment Center, including referrals, domestic violence crisis calls, and is responsible for transferring all sexual assault crisis calls to the Rape Crisis Services according to procedures and documenting all calls appropriately.
Determines eligibility and admits walk-in clients.
Conducts needed Shelter Program crisis intervention, in-person or by phone, during work hours.
Documents all direct contacts with clients and processes forms accurately.
Monitors general happenings within the Shelter including alerting staff and desk workers to current problems, situations, and concerns as well as keeping the census log and communication book up-to-date. Also, notify the appropriate staff when a client arrives for an appointment.
Enforces shelter rules and ensures things are running smoothly within the Shelter during shift.
May complete physical maintenance of the facility during work hours.
Organizes desk area and makes sure supplies are available.
Be available for weekend on-call duty.
Receives donations and follows appropriate procedures for documenting and distributing them.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent with preferably two or more years of college in a human service field
Previous volunteer work or experience in social service preferred
Knowledge/training on working with survivors of sexual assault/domestic violence
Strong people and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and give attention to detail
Ability to communicate orally in conversation both in person and by telephone
Ability to work well with people from a variety of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, and age groups, and with individuals who are differently-disabled
Ability to deal with stress-related situations
Ability to interact with others and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives and timelines
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work in a team setting and embrace the concept of teamwork
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
