Responsibilities:



Major Responsibility Area #1: Work Order Closings

  • Analyze work orders and correct variances are booked to the general ledger on a weekly basis in JD Edwards.
  • Work orders that pertain to projects are analyzed, reviewed, and adjusted to ensure that correct costs are obtained and the projects are closed in a timely manner.



Major Responsibility Area #2: Standard Cost Roll-up

  • On a yearly basis, lead and finalize the standard cost rollup. This process sets the standard costs for the following year.
  • Enter data and run the appropriate JD Edwards programs that set the costs.
  • Coordinate the verification of standard cost accuracy with each product line through the analysis of variance reports run from the JD Edwards system. Make any necessary corrections.
  • Journal entries are calculated and entered into the JD Edwards system to adjust the inventory and work order accounts to the new standard costs.



Major Responsibility Area #3: Month-end Journal Entries/Reconciliations/Reporting

  • Book all cost and inventory related month end journal entries by the second workday
  • By the second work day reconcile all inventory related accounts to the General Ledger with discrepancies investigated and resolved.
  • Prepare Inventory Summary report by the fourth workday
  • Reconcile other accounts to the General Ledger as assigned



Major Responsibility Area #4: Perform Excess and Obsolete Inventory Analysis

  • Run reports to identify excess and obsolete inventory per JBT Standards.
  • Review reports with product line managers and Operations to determine inventory to be written off.
  • Prepare journal entries to book written off inventory by product line.
  • Work with Manufacturing to isolate written off inventory and to determine which items should be scrapped.



Major Responsibility Area #5: Physical Inventory at Outside Warehouses

  • Organize and supervise all physical inventories outside the cycle count function.
  • Create the JDE reports identifying the items to count in the physical inventory.
  • Verify the counts are accurate and resolve any large variances.
  • Enter the counts into the JDE system in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Post the counts in the JDE system along with any other adjustments resulting from the physical inventory to the General Ledger.



Major Responsibility Area #6: LIFO Reporting

  • Prepare LIFO inventory list and upload into the LIFO system as required by Corporate.
  • Analyze the LIFO sample and prepare necessary BOY and EOY cost comparisons in an accurate and timely manner.



Major Responsibility Area #7: Internal Controls and SOx Compliance

  • Respond timely during internal and external audits with requests related to cost and inventory
  • Perform and document required cost related internal control testing



Major Responsibility Area #8: Variance Analysis

  • Support and facilitate monthly variance reviews with Finance team and other management including Variances section of the income statement.
  • Support department managers on variance to budget monthly reviews for material charges and project costs.
  • Monitor purchasing, price, and labor variance throughout each month



Major Responsibility Area #9:
Safety

  • Meet all monthly safety requirements as established by the HSE Department
  • Attend all required site Safety Training sessions or complete and submit make-up materials to HSE.
  • Comply with all JBT safety policies and guidelines.




Key Tasks

Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual tasks as identified above and as relates to specific job duties. Qualifications: Mandatory: Four year college degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar .


Preferred: CPA, CMA, MBA or related certification



Skills and Experience:
Mandatory: One year previous experience in cost accounting or costing related activities in Manufacturing environment Strong technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and enterprise resource planning systems
Preferred: Prior experience analyzing manufacturing operations, performing month-end cost accounting close, maintaining cost accounting system and cost ledger, performing life cycle cost-benefit analyses, and analyzing unit cost variances. Familiar with JD Edwards systems.


Travel Requirements:

10% domestic travel.


Training Requirements:


JPT policies and procedures as it relates to specific job duties. JD Edwards training and excel queries if not already knowledgeable.
