About the Role:

SWA is on the search for a Contracts Specialist for either its NYC or Norwalk, CT office. This is a new position that will support and facilitate the review and approval process for clients, consultants and vendors of Steven Winter Associates, Inc. This may include drafting, negotiating, and executing contracts / agreements according to SWA\'s procedures. It will also assist with various contract-related projects and serve as a business liaison for compliance and general legal matters while ensuring efficient, timely administration of contracts in accordance with company and legal requirements. This position will involve independent judgement and will act as a client and business focal point for communication between operations, finance, and stakeholders.

The proposed annual salary range for this position is $65,000 to 75,000 based on a 40-hour work schedule. The final salary may vary depending on confirmed job-related skills and experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Basic understanding of contract life cycle.
  • Basic understanding of legal and compliance principles.
  • Keep up to date on current laws and regulations.
  • Implement contract negotiations by preparing first drafts of a variety of contracts.
  • Review standard contract templates.
  • Perform contract review and negotiation for contracts and related documents which includes coordination and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist business units with general legal questions.
  • Draft and analyze documents.
  • Prepare and file online contracts.
  • Conduct legal research.
  • Understanding of contract amendments.
  • Maintenance of documents and renewals.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in business administration, Paralegal / Legal Studies, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 + years\' experience in contracts.
  • Experience with commercial / vendor contracts.
  • A passion for reading complex information.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extremely well organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple matters in timely fashion.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize as required.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
Required knowledge:
  • Experience with consulting companies in the construction / architectural / engineering industry.
  • Experience with insurance requirements related to contracts.
  • Quality Assurance Control procedures.
Preferred knowledge:
  • Contract and/or Document Management Software (Adobe, DocuSign, PandaDoc, etc.).
Personal qualities:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in safeguarding confidential or sensitive information. and adhere to high standards or confidentiality and honesty.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently when required.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence, and integrity.
  • Collaborative with strong focus on teamwork.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee will be primarily based in the office, performing office-based tasks, using computer-based software.

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

No overnight travel is anticipated for this position. Some occasional local day travel may be necessary to the Connecticut and / or New York offices.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position will be hybrid with approximately 3 days in office and 2 days virtual pending needs.
