Job Description





POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalently qualified by work experience or a combination of work experience in the human services field and education
  • Minimum Experience: Experience working with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, older adults, and/or vulnerable populations preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have good listening skills, verbal skills, and written communication skills
  • Must be able and willing to be flexible, a self-starter, punctual, and have the ability to maintain a schedule
  • Must have good working knowledge of the community and the resources available within the community, or know how to access those resources outside of the community
  • Must be able to relate to patients empathetically and non-judgmentally
  • Must have a valid Kansas driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and be insurable through Prairie View insurance company
  • Must be able to complete required training within appropriate time frames
  • Must be proficient at basic keyboarding/word-processing skills
  • Must be able to pass Kansas Bureau of Investigation Screen and the Central Registry Screen for both adults and children

POSITION GOAL:
This position will help bridge the gap in services for vulnerable adults who may benefit from mental health treatment. This role will include working with individuals who may have been abused, neglected, or exploited; working with individuals to improve mental health, physical health, and overall well-being; and working with individuals and care givers needing geriatric mental health support. This role will work with individuals referred by Department of Children and Families and their care givers to reduce vulnerability and improve quality of life. This role will help access resources such as finances, housing, physical/mental health needs and develop daily living activities, natural supports in the community, and symptom management skills.

: Prairie View, Inc. is a Behavioral & Mental Health facility located in Newton, KS. Just a short 20 minute drive from the Wichita area and situated just off the beaten path, yet close enough to the conveniences of the city, Prairie View\xe2\x80\x99s campus is nearly 80 acres of natural Kansas plain. A number of evidence-based mental health services are provided, including hospitalization, outpatient services, a community support program, an adventure course, a special purpose school and more. Prairie View is accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.
