Registered Nurse, Clinical Services Liaison Remote position plus travel

The RN Clinical Services Liaison is responsible for the monitoring of clinical services delivery, claims-denials management, and staff development and training. Services delivered shall include assisting in provision of assigned nursing orientations, physician orientations, as well as monitoring the intake and referral processes, investigating and assisting in correcting any nursing, physician or case management issues. Knowledge of hospital revenue cycles and payer reimbursement models will assist in appealing denials, completing clinical audits, and assisting the compliance team with intermittent audits of services. The Clinical Services Liaison will provide oversight and guidance in the daily development of SpecialCare services and staff, including the Intake Coordinator and Service Coordinator roles. Furthermore, the Clinical Services Liaison will work in tandem with the Vice President of Clinical Services in building relationships with client hospital administration. The position is responsible for managing the clinical efficacy of all services and staff in the assigned region/regions.

Responsibilities:

  • Regularly monitor for staff compliance with assigned Relias education. When deficient, develop action plans which support staff in completion timely. Recognize trends in staff and provide feedback to the Vice President of Clinical Services and Vice President of Operations accordingly.
  • Providing clinical mentoring opportunities to field staff regarding daily tasks, clinical, and other related chemical dependency treatment topics.
  • Conduct quarterly audits of locations by region to establish compliance with clinical expectations according to established policies and procedures.
  • Audits may be completed on-site or remotely, as directed by the Vice President of Clinical Services.
  • Assist the Vice President of Clinical Services with maintaining regular communications with hospital clinical members through scheduled teleconference or video conference service.
  • Assist in development, monitoring, and implementation of clinical training opportunities for hospital clients, which are offered annually by live, web-based platform.
  • Regularly offer to clients, a pre-recorded nursing refresher training that can be accessed via a password-protected link.
  • Assist in company-wide clinical initiative implementation.
  • Participate in the data collection regarding denials of payment and appeals with payer sources during financial audits. Track data related to denials on a spreadsheet. Provide assistance to hospitals on appeals of denied claims.
  • Provide resources and assistance to the Quality Resource Management and Case Management Departments of client hospitals when needed.
  • Assist the Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Clinical Services in clinical research regarding the current practices and trends in the field of addiction, with an emphasis in withdrawal management.
  • Demonstrate understanding of corporate and hospital policies and procedures (e.g., service policy and procedure manual, working knowledge of the employee handbook, and supervisor handbook).
  • Provide guidance, direction, and support to each assigned service location as required.
  • When requested, participation in hospital pre-implementation meetings.
  • Participate in the orientation of hospital clinical staff (nursing) and physicians during program implementations as requested by the Vice President of Clinical Services.
  • Conduct follow up visits, as directed by the Vice President of Clinical Services, for new sites approximately 4-6weeks after opening day. The purpose of this follow-up visit is to audit for implementation progress, documentation standards, and practices.
  • When requested, participate in physician training calls with the Corporate Medical Director and Vice President of Clinical Services.
  • Coordinate remedial physician orientation calls, when warranted.
  • Regularly offering to clients, a physician refresher training (coordinated with the Corporate Medical Director) that can be accessed via password protected link, or a live Go-to-Meeting.
  • Assist in conducting a review of company statistics annually, as directed by the Vice President of Clinical Services.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain employee training manuals and coordinate distribution to new hires prior to training week.
  • Participate in training week annually at each training site, as directed by the Vice President of Clinical Services, and provide feedback regarding improvements to topics, schedules, etc.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain orientation manuals for nursing, physician, and case management, as directed by the Vice President of Clinical Services.
  • Coordinate and maintain a relationship with Regional Managers and the Vice President of Operations.
  • Recognize clinical deficiencies and develop action plans according to established policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Vice President of Clinical Services and Compliance Officer in maintaining the Administrative Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • In the absence of the Vice President of Clinical Services, act as the Clinical Contact for client hospitals and field staff.
  • Maintain effective communication with the VP of Clinical Services.
  • Other duties that may be assigned from time to time by Executive Management.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse with active, unrestricted license in the state of Missouri.
  • Behavior health/chemical dependency experience preferred.
  • Case Management experience required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Compliance with accepted professional standards and practices.
  • Ability to handles and maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Satisfactory references from employers and/or professional peers.
  • Exercise good judgment and decision making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a service-oriented mindset.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Demonstrates discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Understanding and able to follow hospital procedures and policies.
  • Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
