Icon Structures, located in the Wichita, KS area, is a growing general contractor for commercial construction providing pre-construction services, construction management, design build work and general contracting.

We are seeking a qualified Construction Estimator to join our team in the Wichita, Manhattan, and Kansas City (Eudora office) locations. We staff our projects correctly, our superintendents know how to build, and our leadership will allow you to truly be part of the organization (Your efforts will directly impact our success). Our Estimators are involved in a range of construction services including bidding, negotiating, and estimating construction projects including pre-construction planning, scheduling, project cost accounting, quality control, contract administration, safety management, labor and equipment resources and owner and architect relationships.

ROLES

  • Prepare estimates based on plans and specifications
  • Solicit bids from subcontractors/vendors, distribute design documents/information
  • Help establish base project schedule, develop project General Conditions
  • Create detailed owner proposal and bid presentation documents
  • Ensure a successful transition from preconstruction to operations
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor and track bid and other opportunities
  • Maintain the bid process, track bidders and ensure adequate coverage on all trades
  • Effectively manage the preconstruction process with owners and architects providing timely information
  • Submit and process PRFI s, manage the flow of information to subcontractors & understand the design and specifications and prepare work scopes to define bid packages
  • Review subcontractor bids to ensure complete coverage
  • Develop good working relationships with owners and architects to encourage repeat business
  • Understand plans and specifications and relate them effectively to subcontractors and owners
  • Understand construction means and methods, subcontractor capabilities and building materials
  • Creative approach to solving challenges posed by new construction methods
  • Good working knowledge of contracts, insurance, and bonding
  • Familiarity with construction software for takeoff and preparing estimates
  • Maintain historic pricing information for accurate budgeting
  • Hold design team accountable on Design Build and negotiated contracts
  • Track design deliverables and schedule work load accordingly
  • Organize, lead, and record preconstruction meeting minutes/notes
  • Apply knowledge of building code to identify possible errors/omissions
  • Assist project teams as needed when bid volume is low
  • Provide creative input during Value Engineering phase (added value, reduced cost, reduced schedule, etc.)
  • Develop ROM pricing promptly, utilizing maintained historic pricing information
  • Track labor production and adjust to maintain a competitive edge
  • Follow up with Owners/Contractors to determine
EXPECTATIONS
  • 3-10 years of experience in estimating/managing construction and related trades
  • Standard full time with expected overtime and travel as required
  • Strong leader with verbal & written communication skills and high software capability
  • Completion of quality estimates on schedule
  • Promote Owner, Architect, and Consultant relationships
  • Be a team player, go above and beyond the industry norm
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with the team, know your audience
