South Dakota State University Student Health Clinic and Counseling Services (SHCCS) is offering an exciting career opportunity as a Clinic Operations Manager. . This is a 12-month, full-time, benefit-eligible position. This position is supervised by the Director of Student Health and Counseling.
It is the mission of the Student Health Clinic to provide cost-effective, evidence-based health care that is tailored to the needs of students. Remaining dedicated to this focus promotes well-being and academic success for all through a respectful and welcoming environment. Student Counseling Services also advances student well-being by offering a range of counseling services along with workshops and additional resources that are aimed at students' mental health awareness. The goal is to empower students and equip them with the tools needed to help create a balanced life through successful navigation of personal and academic challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES
:
Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and providing ongoing support to clinical administrative staff, certified medical coders, and front-desk personnel.
Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and team-oriented culture through coaching, training, and alignment with university values.
Serve as the primary administrator overseeing the effective and efficient daily operations of SHCCS.
Direct clinic operations including scheduling, patient workflow, facilities, supplies, and administrative processes.
Act as primary administrator for the electronic health records (EHR) system, managing workflows, front-desk procedures, compliance protocols, and privacy standards.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, FERPA, and other institutional policies.
Manage clinic and insurance billing operations, including coordination with third-party payers.
Partner with the Medical Coder to ensure accurate coding, timely claim submissions, and proper reimbursement processes.
Educate students on understanding their insurance coverage and connecting with their insurance providers.
Support insurance claim processes and collaborate with Student Financial Services as needed.
Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating SHCCS policies and procedures in alignment with HIPAA, FERPA, and SDSU policies.
Ensure adherence to healthcare laws, regulatory reviews, licensing requirements, and accreditation standards.

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
:
Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Health Care, Health Science, Business or closely related field by start date.
Minimum of one year of healthcare operations or business operations experience
Experience with HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, and FERPA regulations.
Experience working with electronic health systems,
Effective written and verbal communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
Knowledge required of ICD-10 and CPT coding and how it affects third party payors.
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS
:
Master's degree in health administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), Business (MBA), or related field.
Experience working in college health, university wellness, or outpatient care setting.
Working knowledge of revenue cycle management and insurance reimbursement workflows.
Knowledge of provider credentialing for insurance purposes.
