Job Description

New Zion Missionary Baptist Church is seeking a part-time secretary. The Secretary is responsible for the operation of the church office and is general secretary to the Pastor.



Responsibilities and Duties



Serve as the first point of contact for the church by greeting visitors, answering calls, and handling inquiries with courtesy and professionalism. Provide administrative support to the Pastor, including managing correspondence, scheduling meetings, maintaining files, and preparing expense vouchers and other requests as needed. Retrieve mail at least twice a week from the local post office and from the street mailbox daily; open, sort, and distribute mail to the appropriate parties. Coordinate communication and scheduling between the Pastor, ministry leaders, church committees, and the community. Provide support in maintaining the church's membership database as needed. Prepare Sunday bulletins, special event programs, and new member correspondence. Collaborate with Church Council and Facility Use Coordinator in the organizing and scheduling of church-related activities, special events, use of facilities, and publish the annual church calendar. Support ministry leaders with event logistics and communication for the website and outdoor marquee system. Monitor and manage office supplies and equipment maintenance needs.

Qualifications



Applicants should have at least a high school diploma or GED and at least two - years proven experience as secretary or administrative assistant, preferably working for a church or non-profit organization with volunteers. Applicant should be proficient in the use of standard office equipment and software (computers, copy machines, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc.). Additionally, a professional attitude and appearance, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well with management, staff and the public, are critical qualifications for anyone occupying this position.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
