The Manh Choh Project is a greenfield gold deposit in eastern Alaska being developed with ore being hauled to Kinross\xe2\x80\x99 Fort Knox mine north of Fairbanks for processing. The mine site is located in the Tetlin Hills, approximately 250 miles southeast of Fort Knox and 10 miles southeast of Tok. Production is expected to begin in 2024.


Job Summary

The mine site is located in the Tetlin Hills, approximately 250 miles southeast of Fort Knox and 10 miles southeast of Tok. Production is expected to begin in 2024.

Essential Functions


  • Responsible for organizing and planning ore control activities of an open pit mine.
  • Develop site ore and waste characterization and pit mapping.
  • Supervise plan and budget for Geology requirements.
  • Support geotechnical engineers and consultants with interpretation of the geology models as required.
  • Develop, maintain and update structural and geology models.
  • Supervise geology staff and train on mining and minimize dilution.
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Responsible for monthly royalty calculation.
  • Ensure that geologic information is updated in a timely and efficient manner and adjust models accordingly.
  • Responsible for accurate reserve and resource reporting.
  • Maintain accurate geology records and files.
  • Investigate, analyze and supervise the documentation of accidents, injuries and equipment damage, and recommend prevention strategies as necessary.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by Technical Services Manager.


Education and Experience



Education
  • University degree (Bachelor in Geology or related field is required), a master\xe2\x80\x99s degree is preferred

Experience
  • A minimum of seven years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as a mine or exploration geologist is required.
  • Minimum of two years as a mine geologist in open-pit mines preferred but not required.
  • Exposure to high-grade/highly selective ore bodies preferred.
  • Practical experience with ore control and sampling techniques.
  • Experience in Resource modelling preferred but not required.
  • A thorough understanding of the efficient use of geologic instruments, techniques, and interpretation of data.
  • Good working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs. MineSight, Orepro3D and AutoCAD skills are preferred, as well as industry standard database programs.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Understanding of rock mass strength, structural characterization and slope stability controls.
  • Understanding on leach and flotation ore processing techniques.
