Description:

To manage the financial/accounting functions of the Practice and related entities; inclusive of all cash flow management, budgeting, payables, payroll and related taxes, general ledgers, physician compensation and retirement plans, preparation of financial reports with analysis and recommendations to the CEO and ensure company accounting procedures conform to GAAP and any government regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization\'s fiscal function and performance.

  • Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports on the organization\'s financial stability, liquidity, growth and financial trends and concerns in order to assist the CEO/President, the Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
  • Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals.   • Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
  • Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
  • Maintain, create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and related software systems to properly account the companies financials. This includes approving and coordinating changes/improvement in the system.
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal control and safeguards.
  • Interact with department managers to provide consultative and analytical support as well as recommendations to ensure success through cost analysis support and vendor contract collaboration with department managers.
  • Coordinates with other departments for planning for short and long range fiscal needs and insures that expenditures adhere to legal and budgetary requirements.
  • Oversees and directs budgeting, accounting review, tax, accounting, long-range forecasting, and insurance activities of the organization.
  • Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization; i.e., evaluation of potential alliances acquisitions and/or mergers and pension funds and investments.
  • Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals.
  • Serve on Fiduciary Committee and oversee administrative and financial reporting of the organization\'s retirement and pension fund plan.
  • Responsible for maintaining group profit sharing and 401K retirement plan by coordinating activities with vendors, advisors, external auditors and lawyers. Coordinates annual audit, plan testing and profit sharing allocation.
  • Represent the practice at meetings including medical staff, board of directors, and other third party business associates.
  • Communicate with physician\'s financial brokers, personal financial advisors and tax accountants.
  • Obtain necessary business legal documents and other corporate secretary functions (i.e., tax status and exemption status).
  • Processing of Physicians\' and non-physician APP compensation per respective employment agreements.
  • Prepare and participate in benchmark surveys and activities.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master\'s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance. Eight to 10 years of experience in financial/accounting management and 5 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in health care financial management strongly preferred. CPA required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises a moderate size group (8-15) of employees, but possibly smaller if difficult, semi-technical work, requiring considerable direction and assistance, is involved. Plans, directs and coordinates work, makes decisions, and performs personally the more difficult aspects of the same broad assignment. Supervises the following departments: Accounting, Billing and Collections, Central Supply, Facilities Maintenance and Information Technology.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but frequently require more hours. Must also attend after-hours committee and board meetings as needed. Must be available for travel as needed for conferences.
