Scratch Baking, a neighborhood bakery located in Downtown Milford, is seeking an experienced, creative
Savory Chef
to join our growing team. We are looking for a skilled professional with formal culinary training and/or prior kitchen experience who brings strong technique, pride in scratch cooking, and a collaborative spirit to our kitchen.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about savory food who enjoys both execution and creativity. The Savory Chef will play a key role in
developing recipes, expanding our lunch program, and maintaining consistency across our savory offerings
, while working closely alongside our bakers in a shared back-of-house environment. We value quality, communication, and initiative, and we celebrate the contributions of every member of our team.
This is a
full-time position
, Monday through Friday. Schedule and compensation will be discussed during the interview process.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, test, and execute recipes for sandwiches, salads, dressings, spreads, and seasonal savory offerings
Lead and support daily savory prep with consistency, efficiency, and attention to detail
Assemble and oversee lunch items during service windows as needed
Maintain organization, cleanliness, and food safety standards in all prep and production areas
Collaborate with bakery leadership to expand and refine Scratch Baking's savory menu
Establish systems and workflows to support growth of the savory program
Monitor ingredient quality and communicate prep and ordering needs
Qualifications
Formal culinary school training and/or prior professional kitchen experience required
Strong foundation in scratch cooking techniques and flavor development
Experience with recipe development and menu planning preferred
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, team-based kitchen
Positive attitude, reliability, and pride in your craft
