Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has an opening for Manager II of Business Development in Southern Pines, NC; Crystal City Area, VA; or Aberdeen, MD. The ideal candidate has significant prior experience as a uniformed acquisition professional that worked acquisition, program management, and contracting within the U.S. Army and/or Office of the Under Secretary of Defense. A passion for working with end-users to develop and deploy cutting-edge software-based solutions for command and control at all echelons on tactical timelines across the U.S. Department of Defense and its mission partners is also a must.

As Manager II of Business Development, you will work closely with the Network Communication Systems (NCS) product line in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial, and forward thinking culture. The NCS Product Line is responsible for developing and deploying SNC\'s Next Generation Mission System, which is a fully integrated software-based system for bi-directional Command and Control (C2) using high fidelity data from all networks, sensors, and systems across every warfighting domain to make data accessible in near-real-time to accelerate the decision cycle and automate the kill-chain relative to adversary abilities.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains \xe2\x80\x93 air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities will include working with the Director of Business Development to support rapid growth initiatives in the US Army and/or Office of the Under Secretary of Defense. This individual will be a key member of the strategy team and work directly with the program team in a \xe2\x80\x9cdon\xe2\x80\x99t stop until the job\xe2\x80\x99s finished\xe2\x80\x9d environment. The Business Manager II will serve as the senior leader for pursuits within their assigned business portfolio, performing the following key activities:

  • Develop and maintain performance-based, trusting associations with offices of senior military and civilian US Government officials and industry partners
  • Create and sustain working communications that enable the open identification of new business opportunities, declaration and resolution of program issues, and joint pursuit of strategic initiatives with the program team.
  • Assist end-users in meeting or exceeding their mission requirements with rapidly deployable and cost effective solutions that leverage existing technology and/or new capabilities
  • Lead business captures that move the NCS Product Line\xe2\x80\x99s mission of enabling net-enabled warfare forward, which will ultimately contribute to positive business / financial performance
Must-haves:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in a related field of study such as Political Science, Business Management, Business Development, or Marketing
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
  • Background in U.S. Department of Defense as a civilian and/or U.S. Military member, with an experience-based understanding of defense acquisitions processes
  • Willingness to embrace the ambiguity associated with a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial, and forward thinking culture
  • Demonstrated high-energy, tenacious leader who will drive performance and exhibit strong management skills with a high level of emotional intelligence
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and operations concepts and interpret, translate, and explain detailed technical ideas to technical and non-technical audience
  • Experience with technical marketing, proposal development, and program management or engineering design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with extensive experience presenting to senior executives and U.S. Government officials
  • Ability to motivate/work with others
  • Proven success leading and scaling a major acquisitions program for the DoD or private sector defense company in the $100M+ range
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Preferred:
  • 5+ years relevant experience within the DoD or private sector defense company
  • Prior experience as a uniformed acquisition professional that worked acquisition, program management, and contracting within the U.S. Army and/or Office of the Under Secretary of Defense
  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and understand complex technical and program interdependencies
  • Team oriented with the ability to work independently and minimal supervision
  • Advanced skills with the Microsoft Office Suite, to include PowerPoint and Excel functions

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.
