JOB SUMMARY

Working under the supervision of the Controller, the Budget Analyst has primary responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the budget package and for the accurate and efficient use of such by the organization. The Budget Analyst will work closely with all levels of management to ensure timely reporting. Tracks compliance by end users, monthly/quarterly expenses, and capital. Performs variance reporting of actual performance against budget. Prepares forecasting reports and trend analysis. Develops recommendations for budget allocations that conform with budgetary policies and limits. Utilizes financial modeling and data analytics tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Position will act as liaison for CCH in relationship with budget vendor.
  • Position will have primary responsibility assisting with the initial building and full monthly maintenance of data feeds from source systems to budget package.
  • Primary responsibility reconciling all data elements among G/L, MM, Stats and Payroll and budget package.
  • Develop annual organizational budget in collaboration with managers and directors, both operational and capital.
  • Become a resource for others to seek guidance from.
  • Consolidate the organizational budget for review by management.
  • Understand impact of and be able to communicate accounting principles with customer base.
  • Be able to explain and defend recommendations to management.
  • Perform necessary due diligence during budget process, collaborating with managers to develop a final consolidated budget.
  • Prepare/produce monthly financial reporting package to departmental leaders.
  • Prepare actual to budget variance reporting.
  • Subject matter expert assisting as needed with matching actual expense coding to budget.
  • Review expenditures, identifying trends in spending and making such known to management.
  • Perform capital asset tracking and reporting.
  • Prepare forecast reports and project future financial needs.
  • Prepare periodical and special reports as needed.
  • Complies with the Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education
  • College graduate with a degree in accounting or related field preferred. Will accept experience in lieu of degree.

  • Experience
  • Hospital or health care related experience preferred. Accounting and budget or forecasting experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Above average Excel skills are required.
  • The ability to maintain continuing education requirements and all certifications and licenses as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, CPI, CPR) to maintain professional license.
  • Licensed professionals must strictly adhere to the ethical code of their respective discipline.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting including GAAP and CCH financial reporting requirements.
  • Basic computer knowledge including the ability to operate and type clearly, analytical and reasoning skills, and math aptitude with a high level of mental concentration.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions and under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all data, ensuring information is not released to unauthorized individuals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, co-workers, staff, and hospital management. Patience and ability to maintain composure in stressful situations and effective problem-solving skills.
