Overview

What can you expect as a Bioanalytical Scientist Intern at Waters:

This position represents an exciting opportunity for a multidisciplinary automation scientist to join our Automation and Consumables divisions using automated products and sample preparation workflows that address the \xe2\x80\x98Big Science\xe2\x80\x99 questions in our industry and positively impact human health and society.

At Waters, we advance automation for pre-analytic workflows in Pharmaceutical, Food & Environmental, Material, and Clinical Sciences. This scientist role will work in a small interdisciplinary R&D team that works closely with customers and leading experts to integrate and advance automation of sample preparation and method development for LC-MS analytical workflow. This team definitively puts the customer needs first and adopts standard methodologies (Design Thinking, Incubation, Lean Startup) to advance technologies and develop innovative technology platforms!

As part of our 2023 Global Intern Program, you\'ll be encouraged to attend virtual Power Hour sessions, roundtables hosted by members of our Executive Committee as well as joining local events on the site you are based. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Waters and the variety of roles we offer as well as learning more about the Life Sciences industry. You will be allocated a mentor alongside joining teams passionate about the work we do!

This is a paid internship for a period of 3 months over the summer period, and we will have 3 intake dates which will be communicated to you during the course of your application.

During your internship you\'ll work in the Sample Preparation Vials/Plates business area based in Milford, Massachusetts and completing a project focused on automated sample preparation and extraction. The successful candidate will assist in the research, development and commercial application of new and existing Waters consumables and instrumentation in the area quantitative bio-analysis. Under direct supervision, you will test and develop novel applications and innovative solutions using automation, sample preparation, mass spectrometry, and LC technologies

Responsibilities

  • Set-up, use, maintain and troubleshoot Waters\xe2\x80\x99 Automation, LC and MS systems.
  • Coordinate and conduct routine analyses in compliance with applicable methods, protocols, SOPs, and regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of ongoing projects and laboratory records in adherence with documentation standards.
  • Assist senior staff in the design, implementation, interpretation, and reporting of bioanalytical method development, sample analysis and report summaries.
  • Provide input on the design and execution of projects or analyses with hands on involvement.
  • Generate relevant scientific application notes, technical seminars, conference submissions and participate in peer reviewed publications.
Qualifications
  • BS or MS degree program in analytical chemistry or related field of study.
  • Curiosity about pharmaceutical research and discovery
  • Fundamental knowledge in areas of analytical and bioanalytical chemistry
  • Desire to use automation, liquid chromatograph and mass spectrometry technologies
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory SOP\xe2\x80\x99s, GLP compliance, separation science, analytical instrumentation and their applicability to bio-analysis
  • Problem solver who is highly organized, can work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, adaptable, with positive demeanor
  • Intermediate or sophisticated skill level in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
