Barback Reports to: AGM Summary: The Barback is responsible for providing guests with courteous, friendly, sincere, efficient and graceful table service that meets or exceeds guest expectations. This position is primarily responsible for cleaning bar and equipment, and replenishing bar supplies such as liquor, fruit, ice, and dishes. Requirements
  • Previous food and beverage experience in a luxury hotel setting is an asset.
  • Must be of minimum age to serve alcohol according to state law.
  • Must be physically fit in order to lift spirit or wine cases, trays of food or food items up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have a very flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of food and wine an asset.
  • Excellent eye for detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Must possess outstanding guest services skills and professional presentation.
  • Must be effective at handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective at listening, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by guests.
Responsibilities
  • Stocks the bar and all bar storage areas with all-necessary products and materials for service. Including but not limited to wine, liquor, beer, soda, water, juice, fruit, ice, silverware, lines, glassware, and paper supplies.
  • Replaces empty soda boxes with full ones.
  • Maintains cleanliness of all bar areas, both front and back of house, including but not limited to; all coolers, sinks, shelves, storage rooms, walk-ins, counters, floors, bus buckets, and trash receptacles.
  • Assists in the performing of daily, weekly and monthly inventory as directed by the bartender and management.
  • Complies with all occupational, health and safety standards.
  • Assists in the safe preparation of the bar and its supplies for regularly scheduled exterminations.
\xe2\x97\x8f Maintains the level of cleanliness of the bar and surroundings (including but not limited to): Removing empty or dirty glassware and bottles. \xe2\x97\x8f Slices and pits fruits for the garnishing of drinks, for entire bar. \xe2\x97\x8f Secures all liquor, wine and beverage through security procedures dictated by management. \xe2\x97\x8f Uses gloves, ice shovels and plastic swords to directly handle any ice or garnishes. \xe2\x97\x8f Documents all liquors and supplies that are pulled out of storage and into service in order to maintain pars. \xe2\x97\x8f Helps maintain the cleanliness of the bar and integrity of the bar by completing all side duties and special projects as issued by management on a daily basis. \xe2\x97\x8f Set up and break-down of all bar areas performed according to specific instructions as outlined within the side work, diagrams and/or at the direction of management. Including the cleaning and positioning of all products (food, beverage, dry goods & equipment) which are used to service the guests at the bar. These responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Stocking, maintaining pars and/or cleaning: *All bar products (beverages and dry goods), surfaces, refrigerators/coolers, sinks, stainless steel equipment and surfaces, candle holders, mirrors, shelving, ashtrays, soda guns and holders, trash receptacles, ice bins, Micros terminals and printers. *All beverages (beer, wine, soda, water, liquor, juice, etc.) service equipment (i.e. glassware, silverware, China), sword picks, all menus, garnishes (i.e. sliced fruit, whole fruit, spices), lines and paper napkins, cleaning rags, staplers and staples, ink cartridges, printer paper, credit card vouchers, hard checks, champagne buckets, ice. \xe2\x97\x8f Performs end of the night procedures and side work (including but not limited to): Saving and counting all empty liquor and wine bottles. Using Champagne Stoppers to preserve all champagne. Locking all bar refrigerators and beverage storage area. \xe2\x97\x8f Follows guidelines as outlined in must be able to work in all outlets Skills and ability to: Ability to communicate in the English language (Second language is a plus); must be a team player. Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques and use of equipment/ machinery, ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends; able to perform multiple tasks.   • High School diploma \xe2\x80\x93 required.
  • Hospitality or customer service experience - preferred.
  • Experience in F&B operations - preferred.
