Job Summary:
The Band Saw Operator is responsible for cutting, sawing, and shaping bar stock, tubing, sheet materials, and other stock to precise specifications for downstream manufacturing processes within a cryogenic facility. This position requires the accurate interpretation of engineering prints, the safe operation of saw machinery, and meticulous attention to detail to ensure the highest quality standards for products designed to operate at extremely low temperatures. The Band Saw Operator will also be involved in quality checks, routine maintenance, and ensuring a safe and clean work environment.

Set up and operate a variety of
variable
-speed
band
saws and skill saws, to cut metal alloys and other specified materials to the correct dimensions.
Read and accurately interpret
a tape measure
, technical drawings, and work orders to determine product specifications.
Measure, examine, and verify all finished workpieces with a tape measure, to ensure they meet exact specifications and quality standards.
Load and unload raw materials and finished products, potentially using an overhead crane or forklift.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on all equipment, including replacing worn or defective saw blades and lubricating machines.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues and report any major malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor.
Sort and organize finished jobs, routing materials to the next operation in the manufacturing process.
Complete all necessary production paperwork and maintain accurate records of daily output and quality control checks.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Competencies:
Proficiency with various measuring tools, including tape measures.
Comfortable using tools and learning new equipment.
Some lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and working on feet.
Job Requirements:
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Willing to work with hands and stand for long periods.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
Factory setting with loud equipment and heavy parts.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
Previous experience operating saws in a manufacturing or production environment is often required or preferred.
