Position Summary

The Associate Director, Payor Marketing will drive the development and pull-through of brand value payor proposition, access strategy and tactics for payor and HCP audiences in the Neurology Business Unit . The Associate Director is also responsible for demonstrating ongoing strategic leadership across the organization to profile the payor landscape, execute payor research, develop strategies to achieve overall access goals of our medicines and create payor messaging that enhances and evolves the value of Horizon\'s therapies across U.S. payors (public and private) in all segments (Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare, Federal Programs including VA/DoD) . The Associate Director is accountable for tracking and improving targeted account performance, key account prioritization, and development of marketing strategies and tactics to achieve optimal, profitable access.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of key tactics across field teams that support adoption and access to Horizon\'s existing Neurology portfolio and emerging pipeline
  • Manage external payor marketing agency work and budget to develop and support customer materials
  • Maintain thorough understanding of payor market dynamics and access complexities for each medicine in our existing portfolio and emerging pipeline; serve as a subject matter expert and source of market-specific information, segmentation, strategic direction, and tactical concepts
  • Leverage payor and other third-party stakeholder insights to drive key access strategic choices
  • Partner with the brand team to develop market access messaging for field teams to pull-through payor access across public and private channels (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Federal programs including VA/DoD)
  • Align with the brand team to develop messaging to drive clinical value to government and private payers and channel customers
  • Gather data, design customer development programs, and lead the development of strategies and tactics in collaboration with brand product managers and field teams
  • Identify gaps in current market access understanding and develop plans to gain direct payor insights through primary research, advisory boards, etc., and work with vendors to implement projects in a timely, impactful manner
  • Present payor issues, opportunities and recommendations to leadership and other key stakeholders
  • Serve as point of contact with cross-functional partners to guide strategies and plans for broader and deeper market access engagement with KOLs, payor organizations, and other key constituents within Horizon\'s payor customer base
  • Work closely with analytics teams to identify and address product barriers to payor access and performance by applying advanced understanding of, and experience with, pricing strategies and payor analytics
  • Based on business demands, lead key projects and initiatives that require significant cross functional responsibilities and guide the resolution of complex business problems through innovation and proactive stakeholder engagement
  • Responsible for developing payor-centered branding, awareness, and pull-through
  • Interact directly with field-based teams to implement key success metrics and incentives
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications and Skills Required
  • B.A. or B.S. Degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • 7+ years of related experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotech industry, preferably in market access and/or marketing
  • Experience in payor/brand marketing for buy and bill products
  • Specialty products, infusible and/or rare disease experience preferred
  • Recent launch experience and entry into new therapeutic areas strongly preferred
  • In-depth understanding of the complex and evolving US reimbursement landscape and access challenges, including reimbursement trends, private and government payor perspectives, and healthcare policy
  • Comfort presenting complex and evolving access challenges to all internal customers, including senior management, brand partners, and appropriate field teams
  • Strong attention to detail combined with a keen ability to recognize issues in the context of higher-level policies and regulations
  • Strong leadership, planning and organization, analytics, decision-making and problem-solving skills; focus on delivering results
  • Strong interpersonal and peer leadership skills to influence without authority; ability to work cross-functionally in a highly dynamic environment with a high sense of urgency
  • Self-starter who functions well both independently and within a team
  • Proven record of successful vendor management, specifically as lead for agency partners
  • Experience successfully managing budgets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; excellent presentation and power point skills
  • Professional, proactive demeanor
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
