Essential Duties

1. Perform a range of analytical duties in the development of technology solutions for business processes. 2. Analyze current systems/processes, identify trends, make recommendations for modernization and improvements as it relates to people, process, and technology. 3. Responsible for applications development, conversion, installation and/or maintenance. 4. Collaborate as part of a team to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of business systems. 5. Assist with the modification and configuration of systems to meet business needs and stakeholder\'s requirements. 6. Liaison between technical staff and user groups. 7. Assist with implementing developed test plans, support testing i.e., user acceptance, performance, security, and usability. 8. May design and edit routine application workflows to enhance business processes. 9. May develop customized reports to respond to user requirements.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor\'s Degree and two years of experience or equivalent education and experience.

Position Focus:

The Assistant Director, Engagement Technology is responsible for supporting Yale\'s community engagement platform, CampusGroups, which we locally brand as YaleConnect. In this role, you will: Work closely with student groups, staff colleagues, and vendor support to ensure the platform meets a wide variety of goals and needs. Collaborate frequently with many members of the Yale University community, including IT, professional schools, student groups, student support offices, and others to ensure the platform is fully integrated into the community\'s workflows and processes. Create user guides, training materials, and best practices for the University community. Respond to user issues and resolve technical problems. Develop and implement platform enhancements and customizations. Maintain documentation about the platform. Compile, prioritize, and report feature requests for product direction and implementation.

The role will report to the Sr. Director, Education Technology within the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning. Because of this organizational positioning, you will be immersed in the Poorvu Center, a campus-wide resource for Yale University instructors and students. The Center provides training, consultations, and resources designed to make teaching and learning more public and collaborative. The Poorvu Center has expertise across thirteen teams and partners closely with academic and administrative units across campus in support of Yale\'s educational mission. There is a widely held view that the Poorvu Center is mission-critical for Yale\'s educational goals, and President Salovey\'s top goal to be the research institution most committed to teaching and learning. Our expertise and resources are proven capable of transforming the Yale experience for our faculty and students. Over the past year, our leading-edge areas of work include adapting lessons from remote teaching to in-person instruction; leading the campus\'s digital education strategy; providing timely guidance in emerging areas such as teaching controversial topics; and addressing generative AI.

To succeed in this position, the successful candidate will bring passion and excitement for supporting a rapidly growing online engagement platform at Yale with a goal oriented, collaborative, and problem-solving mindset. You will be part of a dynamic community at the Poorvu Center, that embraces a flexible work environment that includes three days of on-campus work per week. We also permit up to four weeks per calendar year of fully remote work for extended flexibility. Although this is currently a two-year fixed duration position, there is the possibility it could be continued beyond that time. This position also presents an opportunity to be introduced to the work of the full Poorvu Center.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

3+ years related work experience in higher education and/or supporting and administering a student facing platform, hub or portal; Technical experience or interest in reporting and leveraging data through an applications API; any programming /development/UX or Data Analytics / Data Visualization experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Demonstrated ability supporting a user community on engagement platform, event management system, or similar platform, and troubleshooting challenges and problems encountered with using such systems.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Strong technical and support documentation writing skills. Ability to explain technical applications in clear terms. Familiarity with web publishing and content management platforms, including knowledge of basic HTML for formatting and embedding content.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Comfortable working closely with a user community through email, phone, zoom, or in person based on individual need and preference.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Ability to research, vet, test, support and document related technologies workflows or solutions.
