POSITION SUMMARY:


This position serves as the lead technical expert on complex applications development work assignments and problems for USF\'s Student Information Ecosystem, to include Ellucian Banner as well as inter-related systems for the entire life cycle of the systems to include analysis, coding, testing, documentation, and mentorship of others in these activities. The role applies significant professional experience and training in information technology and computer programming to the analysis, design, modification, and maintenance of application programs, integrated systems, and/or software solutions, with a particular focus on ensuring the continued delivery of business value for stakeholders and the alignment of technical effort with strategic university and/or USF IT goals and measures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical lead for complex and large-scale efforts to analyze client systems and application needs, determine and evaluate potential solutions, develop system technical specification and requirements, design application programs to meet the requirements and deliver needed organizational value to stakeholders. Consult with various system stakeholders, including product owners, business analysts, users, and others to identify and document technical requirements. Evaluate functional needs and requirements against available systems and functionality. Design, developer, and implement high-quality integrated solutions which may include multiple applications, databases, networks, and/or inter-related systems.

Provide strategic technical direction for addressing complex and/or large-scale efforts, including such aspects as planning and estimation, risk mitigation and management, coordinating QA and UAT testing, and implementations. Responsible for ensuring that technical efforts lead to creation of organizational value and align with strategic university and/or USF IT goals and measures.

Provide leadership and coaching for the ongoing enhancement of software development practices within the Ellucian Banner team, to include analysis, planning, coding, and implementation of changes to development-related processes, practices, and systems (such as source code control, automated testing, build/promotion pipeline, etc) which will increase efficiencies and quality, enhance the flow of value to stakeholders, and improve the value provided to the organization through software.

Provide senior-level technical leadership, mentorship and guidance for Application Developers within the Ellucian Banner team as well as for other teams in IT on practices, techniques, and strategies related to the full software development lifecycle of the Ellucian Banner Student Information System, integrated systems (such as third-party Admissions systems) and related subsystems (such as Microsoft Azure for SaaS hosting).

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training, and four years of IT related work experience, OR a Bachelor\'s degree with no specific required field and five years of IT related work experience, OR a Master\'s degree and three years of IT related work experience, OR a combination of eight years of IT related work experience and validated training. Preparation for a relevant IT certification is considered to be related training

PREFERRED:
In-depth knowledge and corresponding years of experience with the Ellucian Banner Student Information System and it\'s supporting ecosystem at USF, including experience with the Java programming language, modern DevOps practices for source code management and deployment, Microsoft Azure for Software as a Service (SaaS) hosting, as well as in-depth knowledge of business practices in higher education, healthcare, non-profit, or similar organization(s).
