The pay range listed above reflects the FULL pay range for this position. The expected ENTRY pay range is $43,680 -$52,208 annually, based on qualifying experience and equity within Maricopa County. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

We Require

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Three years of experience working with animals in a veterinary hospital, humane society, or another animal facility (may include volunteer work)

  • One year experience in a supervisor role

OR

  • Combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience to substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis


We Also Value

  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Animal Welfare, Public Administration, Business Administration, or closely related field

  • Fear Free Certification


Job Contributions

  • Assess performance, provide feedback, recruit, create employee schedules, and manage complaints

  • Provide coaching to employees, correct performance deficiencies, implement corrective action, and apply performance improvement procedures

  • Train, monitor, and deliver care activities to ensure the highest level of care for animals in our facility, including cleaning, pet monitoring, feeding, etc

  • Maintain detailed records for reporting

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to customers, volunteers, and key stakeholders, ensuring team members deliver to the same standard

  • Conduct routine audits to ensure proper safety protocols, disease management, proper sanitation, and service delivery

  • Build relationships with animal welfare organizations and work with leadership to review and update policies and procedures


Working Conditions

  • Animal shelter environment with exposure to extreme and varying temperatures, dogs and cats with unknown temperaments and behaviors, excessive noise, animal waste and fluids, deceased animals, cleaning chemicals, and zoonotic diseases

  • Ability to work as early as 5 am and as late as 7 pm, as well as weekends and holidays

  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, stand, and walk on various surfaces, including slippery, uneven, and rough
