Job description We are seeking an Adoption Counselor to join our team! Adoption Counselors are responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly environment while ensuring cats are well taken care of and helping to make good matches with adopters. This position is about 30 hours per week Duties include
- Cleaning cat enclosures, shelter and adoption areas
- Working with cleaners/disinfectants.
- Cat care including handling, grooming, socializing, medicating and cuddling
- Great learning opportunities for persons interested in vet assisting/tech careers.
- Adoption counseling and matchmaking - Get to know the cats and kittens available for adoption to assist in making good matches with adopters.
- Complete screening, new cat counseling, documentation and receiving payments for adoptions.
- Experience with cleaning
- Must be able to pick up 40 lbs.
- Must be able to bend with knees and stand / walk for long periods of time.
- Previous animal experience preferred but not required.
- Must be able to handle cats, including sick, scared, and angry animals
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Communication and screening skills
- Must have reliable transportation
- Gotta love cats!
- Working with volunteers who love cats
- Must be detail oriented, adaptable to change and able to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work well independently and make appropriate decisions within guidelines
- Paid time off
- 8 hour shift
- Weekend availability

- Animal care: 1 year (Preferred)
