Job Summary: This position handles the general customer servicing functions, agency accounting duties and some basic admin functions that remain in Markel Agency. This person must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and assist with the coordination of operation workflows for the agency to function efficiently and thereby provide excellent customer service to its clientele. The qualified candidate will maintain strong customer relationships, allowing the agency to perpetuate growth opportunities while supporting the Markel Style. Must be able to maintain client satisfaction by exceeding quality standards by resolving customer issues while aligning customer needs with carrier guidelines.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist the agency in meeting and/or exceeding business and retention sales goals
  • Assist with cross-training the agency responsibilities; including, customer support, agency management processing, billing, accounting duties, and all other agency administrative duties
  • Counsels insureds and/or retail agents on coordinating carrier underwriting eligibility and policy coverage and/or options
  • Handles unassigned mail and various associated duties
  • Acquires insurance information as needed for new business and renewals regarding Markel Insurance (and other carriers if required) products. Handling of proposals, quote letters, binders, policy issuance and billing while maintaining accuracy on all work completed
  • Primary backup for the all customer service related responsibilities including duties as assigned.
  • Process all account transactions by applying the agency\xe2\x80\x99s management system including general agency documentation to support and facilitate optimum account handling and meeting the accurate agency errors and omissions standards. Ensure accurate and timely servicing and billing of accounts
  • Responds to all renewal submissions in accordance with departmental guidelines and service standards in a manner which provides outstanding customer service.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college is a plus!
  • 1 or more years of prior customer service experience preferred
  • Proven job stability and attendance records
  • Solid computer, grammar and multi-tasking skills

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors.
