This vacancy is located at SCLHSA\'s Terrebonne Behavioral Health Center located in Houma, LA. The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of accounting for Terrebonne Behavioral Health Center.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in which clerical work was a major duty.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for the required experience on the basis of six months of training for six months of experience for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of experience.

NOTE:
Business or technical school training with less than completion will only be credited in six month increments. Similarly, college training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments.

NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
Job Concepts
Function of Work:
To perform a wide variety of clerical duties that requires independent judgment to accomplish in support of the staff members and/or operations of an organizational unit or program.

Some discretion is required in the performance of these duties. Duties begin to expand in scope and complexity, and develop into departmental-program duties.

Level of Work:
Advanced.

Supervision Received:
General from higher-level clerical and/or supervisory personnel.

Supervision Exercised:
May supervise 1-2 lower-level personnel.

Location of Work:
May be used by all state agencies.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Administrative Coordinator 2 by the presence of responsibility for clerical duties that involve greater scope and complexity, including initial program duties.

Differs from Administrative Coordinator 4 by the absence of paraprofessional duties that involve a higher degree of specialization, complexity, and/or independent judgment.
Examples of Work
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
30% Accounting:

  • Responsible for performing accounting duties daily to ensure all monies collected balances with daily cash logs.
  • Prepares deposits and balances all monies collected with receipt book for services and PAP collections to verify monies collected.
  • Balance daily remittance report.
  • Posts all deposits to check register.
  • Posts payments received from client to eCW.
  • Retrieves monthly reports from eCW as instructed by Fiscal department or supervisor.
30% Insurance Eligibility:
  • Completes pre-appointment audit duties, to include: private insurance and Medicare verification, sliding scale status review, Medicaid verification, review for fiscal, and clinical updates needed.
  • Completes insurance benefits checks (including private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, etc.) and interprets the information received. Inputs information into eCW. Communicates fiscal policy information to clients as this relates to person\xe2\x80\x99s insurance benefit and/or financial payor status.
  • Corrects billing error reports as they are forwarded from the Fiscal Department and ensure EHR information matches information in physical record.
  • Send request for billing statements to Billing Department as needed.
20% Screening/Orientation:
  • Conducts interviews with new clients, which consist of explaining and completing various consents, obtaining proof of income (POT) and insurance information, and inputting guarantor and demographic data into eCW as needed.
  • Meets with client to acquire signatures on consents and acknowledgements and review annual income (sliding scale) and/or insurance status.
  • Performs annual updates on existing clients
  • Completes corrections on error reports
15% Daily Administrative Duties:
  • May assist in other clerical/administrative tasks within the agency or in special projects as directed by supervisor such as screenings, orientation, answering phones, medical records requests, checking clients in/out for appointments, fee collection, etc. Attend all staff meetings and in-services.
5% Other:
  • Performs other duties as assigned, to ensure smooth operation of the agency policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
