Job Objective & Safety/Security Sensitive Designation

JOB OBJECTIVE: To perform technical and clinical procedures, to include diagnostic tests, blood draws, radiographs, vaccinations and other related procedures, in the health care of animals under the supervision of the Veterinarian at the Little Rock Zoo; maintains Zoo hospital facility and hospital equipment to ensure hospital is properly set up and supplied for medical procedures in compliance with American Zoological Association (AZA) standards.

This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

Minimum Qualifications, Additional Requirements and Supervisory Responsibilities

Please note the additional requirements are the same for both positions.

PART TIME POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of an Associate\'s degree in Veterinary Technology or a related area from an institution accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association; and two (2) years of experience as a Veterinary Technician involving work with exotic animals. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

FULL TIME POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Completion of an Associate\'s degree in Veterinary Technology or a related area from an institution accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association; and four (4) years of work experience as a Veterinary Technician involving work with exotic animals or related area. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must possess Arkansas certification as a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) within six (6) months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this position.
• Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver\'s License within thirty (30) days of employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
