Job Overview


We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Zoning Administrator to oversee land use and zoning regulations within our jurisdiction. This role involves managing planning projects, ensuring compliance with environmental laws, and supporting urban development initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, expertise in GIS and CAD software, and a solid understanding of urban planning principles. The Zoning Administrator will play a critical role in shaping sustainable community growth through effective regulation enforcement and strategic planning.

Duties



Review and process zoning applications, variances, and permits to ensure compliance with local ordinances and environmental regulations. Conduct site inspections and field surveys to verify adherence to zoning codes. Prepare detailed reports, maps, and presentations using AutoCAD, Revit, Rhinoceros 3D, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite for planning proposals and public meetings. Utilize GIS tools such as ArcView, ArcGIS, and other GIS platforms for data collection, spatial analysis, and mapping projects related to urban development and transportation planning. Collaborate with urban planners, environmental specialists, contractors, and community stakeholders on development projects. Manage project schedules, coordinate meetings, and monitor project progress to meet deadlines efficiently. Research relevant environmental laws, contracts, construction standards, economic development strategies, and transportation policies affecting land use decisions. Assist in drafting comprehensive reports, policy documents, and legislative updates related to zoning and land use planning. Support economic development initiatives by analyzing data trends and preparing strategic recommendations for sustainable growth.

Requirements



Proven experience with GIS platforms such as ArcView or ArcGIS; proficiency in Data analysis skills is essential. Strong knowledge of CAD software including AutoCAD; experience with Revit, Rhinoceros 3D, SketchUp preferred. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite for creating visual presentations. Understanding of urban planning principles combined with knowledge of environmental law and contracts related to land use. Experience in project scheduling, project management methodologies, research techniques, drafting plans, report writing, and data collection. Knowledge of transportation planning processes and economic development strategies is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills for report writing, public presentations, and stakeholder engagement. Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical applications for community development projects. Pay: $23.10 - $27.82 per hour
