Partners with the Site Director and other Youth Development Specialists in supervising and supporting the development of club members through summer camp programs. Plans, implements, and supervises youth development activities provided within a specific program area, such as Education, Recreation, Social-Emotional Learning, Leadership, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education. Upholds and models the Mission and Values of the Boys & Girls Club of Placer County
KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES):
Prepare Youth for Success:
Creates a positive Club environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes
Promotes and stimulates program participation
Provides a wide-range of skill-building opportunities
Provides guidance, mentorship, and role modeling to members
Program Development and Implementation:
Plans, prepares, and implements high-quality programs, services, and activities for drop-in members
Supervises and evaluates programs, services, and activities to ensure the safety of members, enrichment, and quality in programs
Develops and maintains the appearance, safety, and design of program spaces
Participates in ongoing staff development and training activities
Prepares periodic activity reports
Supervision:
Ensures a safe environment by carefully maintaining facilities, equipment, and supplies
Ensures safe, fun, and engaging participation of members by way of supervision, promotion of positive behavior and interactions, proactive redirection, and conflict resolution
Ensures a productive work environment by participating in weekly staff meetings.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:
Maintains close, daily contact with Club professionals and volunteer staff, Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information; discuss issues; explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; advise/counsel. Has regular contact with members as needed to guide, redirect, discipline, advise, and counsel to ensure participation in programs.
External:
As directed by the supervisor, communicates with external community groups, schools, members' parents, and others to assist in resolving problems and to support member growth and development.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work and volunteer experience
Experience working with children
Knowledge of youth development
Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
Ability to deal with the general public
Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
Ability to manage oneself in a positive, productive, and professional way
Ability to follow and model policies and procedures
Mandatory CPR and First Aid certification (Club will provide training, if needed)
Valid State Driver's License
