Newark, NJ

location.


We are a safety minded company and expect the successful candidate to be as well. This position is hourly, non-exempt from overtime. Overtime is paid after 40 hours are worked each week.



The expectation of a Yard Equipment Operator/Laborer is to safely prepare and manipulate heavy equipment to ensure the appropriate movement of materials to ensure the accurate and timely loading of barges according to marine demands. It is important for Yard Equipment Operator/Laborers to communicate clearly with all team members to meet all production/sales/customer needs while always following the Company's core values of Service, Integrity and Respect.

Expectations:

Operate various heavy equipment, including but not limited to loaders, excavators, front loaders/back hoes, skid steer and s mall powered equipment to move aggregate related materials
Operate heavy equipment to load, unload materials using bucket with scale
Assist with repair and service of equipment, u tilizing hand tools to maintain and make minor repairs to equipment
Inspect equipment/machinery to maintain safe daily operations
Complete miscellaneous maintenance/cleaning tasks i.e., sweeping, shoveling, general labor duties according to business needs
Stockpiling aggregate materials in order to load hopper to feed the barge loading process
Complete miscellaneous jobs according to business needs

Required Knowledge/Skills/Aptitudes:

Ability to establish effective working relationships with fellow employees and supervisors
Must be safety minded
Strong communication skills and comfortable communicating via two-way radio to other team members
Basic math skills


Ability and interest in learning marine terminology and technology


Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing instructions and processes


3- 5 years prior heavy equipment operating experience

Physical Demands:

Daily checking of equipment/machinery for pre-shift compliance
Standing for long periods of time, bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, crouch/crawl
Routine pushing/pulling when operating hand controls
Lifting is required
Pulling of marine ropes for extended periods of time
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
Ability to tread water
Perform all job related functions in all weather conditions, via ladder at elevated heights, near water
Exposure to high levels of noise, grease, and dust
Ability to work extended hours as required by changing weather conditions and business needs

Pay: $21.00-$26.00/Hour
