PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Workforce Readiness Coordinator works closely with our Club members to develop their passion and interest in various careers with a strong emphasis on those that do not require a 4-year degree. They will also manage the workforce development opportunities for the Brevard County Clubs. This position will create, plan, develop, manage, and supervise the workforce development program for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida-Cocoa Branch as well as supporting the Workforce Development Teen Specialists at the Temple Terrace (Melbourne) and Titusville Branches. In partnership with community-based organizations and private sector employers, the Workforce Development Coordinator will work to enhance employment opportunities and in-Club and out of Club experiences for our members.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Commitment to Safety

  • Contribute to environment of safety through the learning, implementation and monitoring of all safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to all safety rules and practices and proactive communication among members, parents, peers, and leadership.
  • Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training.

Program Coordination
  • Coordinate with Service Director & Program Director on strategic initiatives and implementation of workforce readiness programs and activities.
  • Coordinate with Service Director & Program Director on projects, due dates, and deliverables.
  • Support Service Director and Program Director with program logistics, events, data tracking, and trainings.
  • Coordinate and support county-wide program activities like club-based community events, open houses, trainings parent events, and trainings.
  • Coordinate and provide program delivery support at assigned location(s).
  • Collaborate an annual action plan for the Workforce Readiness Program including year-end objectives, main activities, and assessment measures.
  • Assist in the recruitment of community partner volunteers who will work with the WFD program.

Partnership Development & Outreach
  • Provide career and workforce opportunity guidance and exploration activities to teens as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, school staff, local business and key stakeholders to increase Workforce Readiness outreach efforts.
  • Contact and coordinate guest speakers from various professional fields to share information with members about careers and college experience.
  • Seek out enrichment and academic opportunities for the students including certification programs, trade school scholarships, extension classes, youth exchanges and community service opportunities.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Six months of experience working in a service organization, with emphasis on workforce development programs and activities.
  • Proficiency/comfort using technology and data, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Principled with high ethical standards, professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to work in constantly evolving environment (range of tasks, ambiguity, flexibility) while still exercising and implementing standard professional processes and systems
  • Must be able to work autonomously, set direction, seek out answers, and produce results with minimal guidance
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with various people
  • Sensitivity to confidentiality requirements
  • Valid driver\'s license with good driving record, and consistent access to a vehicle with appropriate insurance required.
  • Good written/oral communication skills, ability to speak to various audiences about BGCCF volunteer opportunities
  • Good presentation and public speaking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all types of people
  • Outstanding organization and project management skills with the ability to see the big picture while managing small details

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical requirements: Ability to read and interpret documents such as financial reports, safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts and or technical information with others. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and formulas. The employee is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds . Work environment: Normal office environment.
