We are seeking a knowledgeable and personable Wine Consultant to join our team. This role involves assisting customers with their wine choices, conducting product demos, and ensuring the wine section is well-merchandised and stocked. Bilingual abilities and previous customer service or restaurant experience are a plus. The Wine Consultant plays a vital role in creating an engaging shopping experience, promoting sales through upselling, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers in selecting wines that meet their preferences and needs. Conduct product demonstrations to educate customers about different wines, tasting notes, and pairing suggestions. Manage POS transactions accurately, including cash handling and cashiering duties. Upsell products by recommending complementary items and promoting special offers to increase sales. Maintain the merchandising of the wine section, including stocking shelves, rotating stock, and ensuring displays are attractive and organized. Perform basic retail math to handle transactions efficiently and accurately. Ensure proper phone etiquette when interacting with customers over the phone or in person. Supervise or assist with inventory management, including stock replenishment and stocktaking activities. Support overall store operations with excellent communication skills, teamwork, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or similar environment preferred. Strong communication skills with the ability to educate and engage customers effectively. Experience with POS systems (Toast), cash handling, cashiering, and retail math required. Knowledge of wines or beverage products is highly desirable; certification or training in wine knowledge is a plus. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve a diverse customer base effectively. Demonstrated customer service skills with a professional phone etiquette. Supervising experience is advantageous but not mandatory; leadership qualities are valued. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as stocking shelves and merchandising displays.
