Summary
West Virginia Northern is seeking applicants for a full-time, Welding Laboratory Instructional Assistant

This position is an on-campus position based in Wheeling, WV, and may include duties on all three campuses.

Provides assistance to faculty with classroom and laboratory instruction. Duties include assisting with Welding classes in degree programs and Workforce or Employer-specific courses. Assist with duties associated certification programs (AWS). Responsible for assisting faculty or other instructional staff by performing routine instruction-related support services, such as mentoring and assisting with lower-level courses, preparing materials and supplies, inventory of supplies and equipment, proctoring examinations, grading examinations or papers, etc.

Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to

• Lab material preparation (for college credit and Workforce classes)
• Clean Labs as needed
• Inventory and obtain supplies for classes, including texts and other materials
• Assisting classroom instruction, including exams, record keeping
• Tracking attendance and other miscellaneous academic tasks
• Tutor and mentor students
• Assist with testing management (after AWS certification)
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
Associate\xe2\x80\x99s degree, or vocational or technical school degree
A combination of education and experience may be considered. More than 3 years of experience welding is required.

Experience:



3 year +
Welding experience (required for alternative qualifications, preferred for individuals holding a Welding Degree)


Minimum 6 months
Welding shop/lab experience
