VOLUNTEER REPRESENTATIVE (URM DTLA/AH) POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Volunteer Manager, the Volunteer Representative (Hybrid) will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the volunteer department at Angeles House and Union Rescue Mission. This position will interact directly with groups and people interested in volunteering at Angeles House/DTLA, including hosting orientations and tours.

VOLUNTEER REPRESENTATIVE (URM DTLA/AH) CORE WORK PRINCIPLE:

VOLUNTEER REPRESENTATIVE (URM DTLA/AH) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Print volunteer schedule/sign-in sheets daily, input volunteer hours and new volunteer agreements into software.
  • Assist with outreach / coordinating volunteers.
  • Run all volunteers through Megan\'s Law.
  • Provide excellent care and hospitality to our volunteers by being attentive to their needs.
  • Hold group and individual orientations virtually and in person.
  • Provide Angeles House and URM tours, as scheduled.
  • Assist in planning and executing holiday events particularly the Thanksgiving celebration, Christmas in July, and Christmas store at all locations.
  • Oversee, work, and execute projects and events with individual and group volunteers, including vendors and organizations who may be sponsoring an event.
  • Prepare the environment and supplies for volunteer group activities.
  • Travel to URM facilities and on occasion the Warehouse/Distribution Center, as needed.
  • Communicate and coordinate with various departments mission wide.
  • Work with the Volunteer Department Manager and team to carry out department needs.
  • On occasion, answer phones and emails for those interested in volunteering.
  • Step in and help provide support where needed when we don\'t have volunteers.
  • Conduct other tasks and projects as assigned by the Volunteer Manager.
  • Assist the Volunteer Manager with some administrative needs. Such as creating private registration links for volunteer groups and posting volunteer opportunities on our Volunteer Portal.

  • Encourage volunteers in their faith and growth in Jesus Christ.
VOLUNTEER REPRESENTATIVE (URM DTLA/AH) PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

In general, the following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to allow differently abled individuals to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Manual dexterity for occasional lifting of supplies and boxes, required.
  • Must be able to lift and push at least 50 pounds.
VOLUNTEER REPRESENTATIVE (URM DTLA/AH) WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The office is clean, orderly, properly lit, and ventilated.

PM20 Requirements:

VOLUNTEER REPRESENTATIVE (URM DTLA/AH) EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES:
  • Minimum 1-year experience in customer service, event planning, and volunteer work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs; be internet savvy.
VOLUNTEER REPRESENTATIVE (URM DTLA/AH) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes Saturdays, evenings, and some holidays, as needed.
  • Must have excellent people/customer service skills.
  • Must have excellent public speaking skills (facility tours).
  • Ability to multitask, diffuse angry/frustrated people and groups, including Skid Row population.
  • Must be willing to wear multiple hats and take initiative.
  • Familiarity with event set up and managing people/volunteers.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to work well with others, team player.
