Job Description

:

The Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting High Country Humane's mission by recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting volunteers across all departments. This position serves as the primary point of contact for volunteers and ensures a positive, organized, and engaging volunteer experience while meeting the operational needs of the shelter.

Key Responsibilities:

Volunteer Administration & Communication

Monitor and manage the Volunteer email inbox, responding promptly and organizing correspondence. Maintain accurate volunteer records in Volgistics, including availability, notes, status updates, and flags. Process new volunteer applications and coordinate orientation scheduling. Track and update volunteer service hours from manual logs, emails, and online systems.
Volunteer Engagement & Support

Serve as an on-site resource for volunteers, checking in regularly to address concerns, needs, or questions. Build relationships with volunteers and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment. Follow up with new volunteers after orientation by setting up accounts and sending welcome communications. Maintain and update the Volunteer Facebook Group with weekly posts, training reminders, and engagement content.
Scheduling, Training & Coverage

Coordinate volunteer schedules to ensure all departments are adequately staffed Run weekly volunteer training classes and ensure schedules do not conflict with holidays or shelter needs. Audit Volgistics regularly to ensure scheduling and volunteer data accuracy.
Recruitment & Outreach

Recruit new volunteers as needed using creative outreach strategies, including email campaigns and social media. Coordinate recruitment efforts to meet current and future program needs.
Facility & Supply Oversight (Volunteer Areas)

Ensure volunteer check-in areas are clean, organized, and fully stocked Maintain hiking and walking resources Enter completed report cards into animal profiles within ShelterLuv. Monitor volunteer t-shirt inventory and place orders as needed.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma required or equivalent job-related experience Customer service experience preferred

Driver's license and clean driving record required

Stand comfortably for up to 6 hours a day Working Conditions: Must be willing to work HOLIDAYS and WEEKENDS at varied hours. Must be able to work under stressful conditions and work efficiently and effectively under those conditions with a POSITIVE attitude. MUST be dependable, reliable and have a PROVEN track record of being on time. References will be checked! Ability to work independently AND with a team being extremely time efficient.
Hours: 35-40/Week

Work Schedule: Thursday - Monday, 9:00am-5:30pm

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
