Job Description

South Shore Arts is looking for experienced visual arts educators to join their team and to deliver high-quality instruction during their 3, 6, and 9-week courses for adults, youth, and children this upcoming season and beyond.

The ideal candidate for this position has degree in the visual arts or education, and personal art practice, and art teaching experience is a plus. All types of experience are valuable.

Instructors in this position are contractors and the jobs are part-time and run quarterly. Classes take place in Munster, Indiana at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, and in Hammond at Substation No. 9. Additionally, South Shore Arts has extensive educational outreach programming that takes place offsite with many regional partners such as the YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, Tradewinds, as well as elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the trip-county region.

Program reach is throughout all of LAKE, PORTER, and LAPORTE counties in Northwest Indiana. Reliable transporation is required.

Lead Instructors Needed for:

-After school/Weekend Art Camps for kids and teens (Multi-Level Painting and Drawing)

-After school/Weekend Art Camps for kids and teens (Multi-Level Ceramics/Sculpture)

-Afternoon/Evening/Weekend Multi-level Ceramics and Sculpture Multi-Level classes for adults

-Multi-level Painting and Drawing Multi-Level classes for adults + kids

-Multi-level Mixed Media for adults + kids

-Printmaking

-Textiles

-Watercolor and alcohol inks

-Airbrushing

-Aging Community Specific Programming
