Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, along with relevant experience in a veterinary setting. This role involves assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality medical care to a variety of animals, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout their visit.

Duties

Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, including animal restraint and medication administration. Provide excellent pet care by monitoring the health and behavior of animals in our care. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas, following aseptic techniques. Handle laboratory tasks such as collecting samples and performing basic laboratory tests. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their animals' needs and treatment plans, utilizing veterinary terminology. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, managing records, and providing customer service to clients. Assist in the administration of medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians or technicians. Exhibit knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and husbandry practices to ensure optimal care for all animals.

Qualifications

Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a veterinary clinic is preferred. Familiarity with animal handling techniques, including dog handling and equine experience is a plus. Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices and animal catheterization is advantageous. Strong understanding of animal anatomy and physiology to assist in medical procedures effectively. Experience with laboratory work is beneficial for performing diagnostic tests. Excellent communication skills to interact with clients compassionately and professionally. Ability to work well in a team environment while also being self-motivated. A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being is essential for success in this role. Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
