Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable, dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, with experience in a veterinary setting. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and ensuring the health and comfort of our patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with medical procedures, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized environment.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the safety and comfort of animals. Perform animal handling and restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments. Administer medications as directed by veterinarians, including oral medications and injections. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Provide exceptional customer service at the front desk, including scheduling appointments and answering client inquiries. Ensure cleanliness of the clinic, including sterilization of instruments and maintenance of examination rooms. Monitor animal patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. Assist with laboratory tasks such as collecting samples for testing and running those samples through in-house lab equipment. Support kennel operations by caring for animals in recovery.

Experience

Candidates should possess the following skills and experiences:

One plus year experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is preferred. Familiarity with veterinary terminology and animal physiology is essential. Experience in animal husbandry, including dog handling and equine care is a plus. Knowledge of aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures is beneficial. Ability to administer subcutaneous fluids and vaccines. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members. Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
