The County of Volusia is seeking a Veterinarian Assistant-Clinic Receptionist for the Animal Services Division. This position is located in Daytona Beach, Florida. The clinic receptionist provides exceptional customer service and administrative support at the clinic front desk while assisting in daily veterinary operations as needed. This position is responsible for greeting clients, managing appointments, processing payments, and maintaining accurate medical records. In addition to front desk responsibilities, the role supports the clinic team by assisting with surgical preparation, patient recovery monitoring, cleaning, and general animal care. The clinic receptionist plays a key role in ensuring smooth clinic operations, a positive client experience, and the humane, safe handling of animals in the clinic's care.

Collect and enter client and animal information into clinic databases.
Answer phones, return messages, and schedule appointments in software system.
Provide program information and basic instructions to clients.
Prepare daily medical paperwork and essential forms.
Confirm appointments and organize next-day surgery packets.
Process payments, issue certificates, and explain aftercare.
Reconcile daily payments and prepare deposits.
Maintain organized records and ensure data accuracy.
Assist in the clinic as needed, including supervising animals recovering from surgery.
Assist with surgical preparation, cleaning, and instrument sanitation as needed.
Support patient care by cleaning kennels, restocking, folding laundry, and general clinic maintenance as needed.
Provide hands-on assistance with basic animal care and post-operative monitoring.
May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
Responds to emergency situations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

Graduation from high school or possession of G.E.D.
AND
two (2) years' experience working in a veterinarian office assisting with animal spay/neuter surgery;
OR
certification as a veterinary technician.
A comparable amount of education, training, or professional animal setting experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment.
Must possess a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of appointment and maintain thereafter.
Having met the minimum, the preferred candidate will have at least two (2) years of experience working in a high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) clinic environment.
