Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provides exceptional customer service to our customers maintaining our Customer's First commitment and SMILES initiative.

2. Displays effective verbal communication skills with customers, co-workers, and management.

3. Ensure that all vehicles are clean, safe, and prepared according to Hertz Standard Operating Procedures to ensure the vehicle is ready for customer pick-up.

4. Drives and parks vehicles on-lot as needed and transports vehicles from one point to another.

5. Checks for vehicle damage and ensure features of the vehicles are operational.

6. Vehicle detailing, wash exterior of vehicles (debug and wash), vacuum and wipe down the interior ensuring the interior of the vehicle is clean.

7. Inspects vehicle status (rentable/non-rentable) and forward vehicles needing maintenance and bodywork attention to the appropriate shop.

8. Pre-inspect all clean vehicles interiors, exterior, trunk, windows, dashboard, console, and upholstery, and mark scrapes and dents on the inspection slip prior to customer arrival. Touch up smudges/dusty areas in vehicles that have been overlooked during the cleaning process. Ensure that all vehicles are clean, safe, and prepared according to Hertz Standard Operating Procedures.

9. Fill gasoline tank and check fill levels of all fluids.

10. Meet processing and standardization quotas.

11. Required to perform daily vehicle inventories at designated parking areas.

12. Greet and assist outgoing and incoming customers to and from their rental vehicles and perform the walk-around inspection with customers of the vehicle. Verify if there is new damage to the returning vehicle.

13. Ensure that there are no items left behind by the renters. Items left behind by customers must be tagged and turned in to the counter CSR for proper handling.

14. Must maintain control of the parking lot during peak hours.

15. Responsible for proper handling of vehicles and keys being turned over and/or picked-up by Hertz staff and/or management.

16. Assists customers with directions using Hertz maps provided and inform customers of exit areas and vehicle return procedures for various locations.

17. Executes proper turn-over during shift change.

18. Perform requested customer pick-ups, drop-offs and customer assistance when required.

19. Reports all incidents to management.

20. Perform miscellaneous job-related tasks as directed by management.



WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. Extended exposure to an outdoor environment, including inclement weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain, etc.)

2. Exposure to noise and odors (exhaust fumes, etc.)

3. This position is frequently exposed to mechanical parts, vibration, and high levels of noise from various car was machinery and equipment.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time, move around the facility from one location to another, talk, hear, use fingers to type, handle or feel and reach objects and lift and/or move objects 10 pounds or less. The employee may occasionally need to kneel, crawl, stoop, bend and lift and/or move items 40 pounds or more. Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.



POSITION TYPE

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Standard days and hours of work are dependent on location and shift, to include night shift. The business itself is a 24-hour operation, thus an employee may be required to switch shifts when needed. Further, this position may require work on weekends and holidays.



TRAVEL

Local travel to various worksites may be required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS



1. Must be able to safely operate a variety of vehicle sizes whether day or night and in all weather conditions while observing traffic laws.

2. Excellent attention to detail.

3. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

4. Must become familiar with all vehicle classes, makes and models of the rental fleet and educate customers on how to operate the different vehicle features.

5. A self-starter and team player with the initiative to handle a variety of tasks.

6. Must display effective written and verbal communication skills with customers, co-workers, and management.

7. Must be able to carry out additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management due to operational needs.

8. Must be able to work outside year-round.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

2. Driver's License required
