Uses knowledge of the sport and coaching experience to help all athletes develop their skills, understand team strategy, and build fitness to support individual and team success. This person works in cooperation with the Unified Sports Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS
:
NFHS Certification-Coaching Unified Sports may work towards certification Successful completion of a criminal background check
CPR & First Aid Certification-Red Cross
Coaching experience preferred, however, not required
Experience working with junior high and/or high school youth
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
:
Has knowledge of athletic policies approved by the Iowa City Board of Education.
Knowledge of rules and coaching strategies for the assigned sport.
Must work to form a positive professional relationship with players, coaches, parents, and fans.
Must possess an enthusiastic attitude and ability to understand unified sports, intermediate, and high school students in an athletic setting.
Must provide adequate supervision before, during, and after all practices and competitions. Students who have 1:1 or shared paraprofessional support listed in their IEPs will have support made available at all practices and competitions. Develop athletes to their fullest potential, starting with teaching the fundamentals of the sport and progressing
Willing to work cooperatively with other programs.
Willing to work evenings and weekends
Supporting the health and well-being of student athletes.
