POSITION BMI Company, Inc. is seeking a qualified applicant to fill the position of Underwriter. COMPANY DESCRIPTION BMI Company, Inc. (BMI), is a local Mutual insurance company, established in 1891 and is located in Billings, Missouri. We focus on building personal relationships, being advocates for their clients and being a leader in Claims customer service. BMI has been in existence for 130+ years and has remained a consistent local employer in southwest Missouri for the entirety of its existence. Insurance lines of business at BMI include Homeowners, Farm, Personal Automobile, and Business insurance. We are now proud to provide services to policyholders throughout the entire state of Missouri. DUTIES
- Review & analyze renewal, endorsement and cancellation submissions to determine acceptability under company guidelines
- Communicate & interact with insureds and agents by phone, in-person & various written means.
- Serve as a resource to other departments with regards to underwriting procedures and guidelines
- Understand and comply with state or other governing entity\xe2\x80\x99s laws & regulations.
- Perform other duties as needed
- Highly organized
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Computer and typing skills to include Microsoft Office line of products
- Ability to read and interpret basic policies and procedures
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze a risk based on pre-established guidelines
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Prior insurance experience preferred
