SAI Residential Treatment Center is a therapeutic, trauma-informed program serving adolescents in a structured, supportive environment. Our goal is to provide a safe, stable residential setting where youth can grow, heal, and build skills for long-term success. We are seeking professional, reliable, and safety-focused unarmed security guards to join our team and support the safety and well-being of residents and staff.
Position Summary
In this vital role, you will be the first line of defense in maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive environment for youth receiving care. Your presence will help foster a sense of safety and stability, ensuring that staff, residents, and visitors are protected at all times. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while utilizing your security expertise in a dynamic setting. The unarmed security guard plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe, secure, and controlled environment for youth and staff at our treatment center. This position is responsible for monitoring facility access, preventing elopement, supporting crisis response, ensuring perimeter safety, and assisting the behavioral intervention specialists and other staff during escalations. The ideal candidate remains calm under pressure, is observant, communicates clearly, and demonstrates professionalism at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor entries, exits, and facility access to ensure only authorized individuals enter the premises.
Conduct regular indoor/outdoor perimeter checks to maintain facility safety and security.
Enforce facility rules, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
Provide active elopement prevention by supervising youth movement and maintaining visibility in high-risk areas.
Respond promptly to alarms or disturbances, assessing situations accurately and escalating to appropriate emergency services when necessary.
Maintain detailed logs of daily activities, incidents, visitor entries/exits, and any irregularities observed during shifts.
Assist in conflict management by de-escalating tense situations with calmness and professionalism while adhering to safety procedures.
Support emergency response efforts by administering first aid or CPR if required, and coordinating with law enforcement or medical personnel when appropriate.
Keep all security equipment operational through routine checks and report any malfunctions immediately.
Uphold loss prevention measures by maintaining vigilance against theft or vandalism within the premises.
Crisis Response & Support
Assist Behavioral Intervention Specialists and on-floor staff during crisis events or escalated behaviors
Support physical crisis response as part of a trained team, following approved therapeutic de-escalation and safety protocols.
Respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations such as fights, threats, medical incidents, or property damage.
Maintain calm, professional communication with youth and staff in high-stress situations.
Monitoring & Documentation
Complete incident reports, shift logs, and safety documentation accurately and promptly.
Monitor cameras and alarm systems to ensure facility safety.
Escort visitors, vendors, and staff as needed.
Track and document youth movement during transitions, appointments, or transports.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with behavioral intervention specialists, house managers, clinical staff and other support staff.
Participate in shift briefings, trainings, and safety meetings.
Support a positive, trauma-informed, and youth-centered environment.
Qualifications
Prior security, law enforcement, military, or residential youth facility experience preferred.
Ability to remain calm, professional, and assertive in high-stress or crisis situations.
Strong verbal communication and de-escalation skills.
Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable; willingness to obtain if not already certified.
Ability to manage conflicts effectively through conflict management skills and de-escalation techniques.
Familiarity with loss prevention strategies applicable within residential or institutional settings.
Strong observational skills with keen attention to detail during patrols and inspections.
Excellent communication skills for clear reporting and interaction with staff, residents, visitors, and emergency responders.
Ability to stand, walk, sit, or remain alert for extended periods while maintaining focus on surroundings.
