UI/UX Front End Developer

The UI/UX Front End Developer will join the TASPD mission as a collaborative team member who will help develop user-centric, analytic tools, widgets and apps for law enforcement, intelligence, and threat targeting users and apply his or her talents to national and homeland security problems.

This position calls for an individual with expertise in UI design, UX design, and front-end development who can understand human-computer interaction design (HCID) and leverage their creativity and hybrid coding background to improve our current and future cloud analytics applications and develop new analytic tools, widgets and apps for users.

The right candidate will possess strong creative, communication, collaborative, analysis, design, coding, and writing skills. Their duties will include, but will not be not limited to the following:

  • Building/developing user interfaces and rich client browser applications using software design patterns (e.g., Model-View-Controller [MVC], Model-View-Presenter [MVP], Model-View-ViewModel [MVVM], Model\xe2\x80\x93view\xe2\x80\x93controller [MVC]) and development technologies such as Node Package Manager (NPM), AngularJS/ReactJS, gulp/webpack, bootstrap, jQuery, JSON, and AJAX. Working knowledge of CSS/SASS/LESS
  • Understanding the needs of, feelings and interactions with users necessary with apps and tools to build user-centric apps and tools
  • Observing user behavior to improve the visual design and flow of analytic applications
  • Performing user research (i.e. target users/personas) and user testing (e.g., wireframes, prototypes)
  • Collaborating with product owners, scrum masters, project managers and other application engineers to gather, evaluate and implement solutions that support user requirements/needs
  • Designing, implementing, testing, and documenting front end components (e.g., JavaScript, CSS, HTML)
  • Performing server-side application integration, deployment and operations support
Experience required:

5 + years experience in required skills in the following areas; may have more overall IT experience:
  • Expertise coding with UI coding languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON, AJAX)
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks (e.g., AngularJS, ReactJS, JQuery)
  • Experience using web/application server technologies (e.g., Tomcat, WebLogic, WildFly, WebSphere)
  • Experience with wireframing and prototyping
  • Experience with user-oriented, UX writing (e.g., marketing copy, microcopy)
  • Experience with Agile iterative software development methodology, processes and practices
Experience Desired:
  • Experience working with cloud applications using Amazon Web Services (AWS EC2, RDS, S3)
  • Experience with Source code control systems (e.g., Git, Subversion, BitBucket)
  • Experience with Front End Build Tools such as Gulp, Webpack, NPM, Bower, or Grunt
  • Experience with Front End Testing frameworks such as Karma, Jasmine, and WebDriver
  • Understanding of U.S. Digital Service Playbook concepts and Draft U.S. Web Design Standards
  • Experience with agile lifecycle management and engineering tools (e.g., Atlassian Jira, Confluence)

Physical:
  • Office work, typically sedentary with some movement around the office.
The projected compensation range for this position is $119,500-$199,800. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
