Position Summary:

Performs intake of both routine and emergent patient transport requests. Collects demographic information and gathers clinical information; makes triage assessment to determine appropriate level of care and mode of transportation, and assigns clinical resources appropriately. Works collaboratively to coordinate appropriate, safe, rapid and efficient intra and inter-hospital transportation of patients to and from The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System affiliates. Intake of Emergency Response Requests and rapid notification of appropriate Emergency Response Team.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent and successful completion an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic program. Additional experience in service related healthcare occupation demonstrating proficiency in interacting with customers, handling high-level tasks, meeting deadlines and providing excellent customer service. Some college preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

• Maryland Emergency Medical Technican- Basic certification required at time of hire. National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Basic or obtain within 90 days (preferred). District of Columbia Emergency Medical Technician Basic or obtain within 120 days (preferred). Current basic cardiac life support (CPR).
• Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant certification preferred
• Unrestricted Valid Driver\'s License and maintain contracted ambulance vendor\'s emergency vehicle operator requirements.

Work Experience:

Two years experience working for ambulance service (or acceptable alternative), required. Two or more years experience as ambulance service/emergency service dispatcher preferred.
