Job Summary:
In this position, you will provide key support to the oversight and planning of mechanical work within the J & T test areas with the Aeropropulsion branch. This role will consist of supporting test operation engineers in the daily activities of maintaining critical test assets and ordering of material in support of maintaining this equipment.

Job Duties:

  • Working with Test Operations Engineers to execute some duties of a Test Operations Engineer
  • Supports the planning of installation and maintenance of test/plant equipment/systems.
  • Directs a wide variety of technical, mechanical and manual work in the control room, testing, operating, and/or assembly and shop areas of an engineering test facility
  • Supports the acquisition of material for mechanical systems
  • Supports the checkout and preparation of plant and test facility equipment for operations
  • Supports preparation and installation of test articles and removal of test articles after tests
  • Support maintenance of facility systems
  • Train, become qualified, and maintain qualification in at least one test facility
  • Identify gaps between new test requirements and existing systems capabilities
  • Provide labor/material inputs to cost estimates for maintenance and capital improvement projects
  • Support scheduling meetings and planning, including making inputs on required maintenance outages
  • Coordinates mechanical and ID&C activities
  • Accomplishes the planning for maintenance and servicing work as required to place and keep such equipment in operation
  • Assists in tests, overseeing the operation of complex testing equipment, and troubleshoots operating equipment, and installations in case of malfunction
  • This position is expected to train to operate as a Test Operations Engineer in the Aeropropulsion area.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Two years of college plus a minimum of 9 years of progressive and relevant experience or any equivalent combination of applicable education and progressive and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with AEDC processes and facilities
  • Current United States Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior mechanical craft experience
  • B.S. degree in engineering technology or related discipline
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical systems
  • Experience with large industrial equipment and machinery, compressors, drives, piping, valves, and related systems support equipment
  • Work experience or familiarity with operation and maintenance activities in a ground test environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work effectively
  • Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office products
  • Active Secret Security Clearance
This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee. National Aerospace Solutions is a limited liability company comprised of Bechtel National Inc. (as lead company) and Sierra Lobo Inc. with teaming Subcontractors nLogic Inc. and Chugach Federal Solutions Inc. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex\'s test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.

AEDC\xe2\x80\x99s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.
