Description:

The Temporary Machine Operator supports efficient production operations within JW Winco's machine shop. This first-shift role is scheduled Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and is expected to last a minimum of 60 days. While experience with CNC setup and operation or manual lathe work is beneficial, the primary focus of this position is machine operation.


Requirements:
Optimize machine processes, produce parts accurately and efficiently. Understand basic machine functions and effects on machined parts. Troubleshoot and correct basic machine issues, tooling, or replacement parts. Review set up sheets, drawings, specifications to determine setup procedure, machine sequence and dimensions. Complete first piece inspection and use a variety of precision measuring and inspection devices to ensure parts conform to specifications. Operate and maintain machine equipment.

Qualifications



High school diploma or equivalent required, with at least five years of experience operating and setting up various manual and CNC production machines. Vocational or technical training is preferred. Application of problem-solving skills applicable to various machining operations. Ability to read and work from engineered drawings. Proficient with various precision measuring and inspection tools. Excellent math skills. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hands productively.

A typical day in the life of a Machine Operator might include



Working from work orders and drawings to modify existing parts or create parts from blank stock per each work order's requirements. Picking, stocking, and managing raw material inventory. Operating manual milling machines, manual lathes, grinders, tumbler, polisher, saws, and other tools. Ensuring that machinery is well maintained. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands




The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
